In order to further derail this thread, Contessa Convoy.

I believe at one point [s]he was a self-declared princess.
Hellion, you have... six months to learn the drums before I get my garage band started. Make that a year. Realizing the hypocrisy of our conversation, I agree this site feels more like a high school for losers than a joe discussion board anymore. I also had to google this Contessa Convoy. Sadly enough, Google's first attempt has some fool looking for nude pictures of the aforementioned. |

What's all this? I'm disappointed, confused and angry because I just assumed that the Club was going to be getting in this year's SDCC Exclusives and therefore joined only to be let down that they did me the favor of sending out an email saying that won't be getting any sets...
This is why I hate the Club, they never promised me anything knowing it would only get my hopes up and crush them... Stupid Club. I quit. Where's my shotgun? |

Yeah, kind of a letdown but it's not like they promise you'll get cheap access to SDCC exclusives.
I've never had a problem getting them off HTS anyway, so here's hoping. Unlike most folks I do not have to be at work on a Monday in July. Muahahah.

The only Hasbro SDCC exclusives I've ever tried to get were Alternators Nemesis Prime, Alt Rodimus, and Slaughter. (I wasn't paying attention to Joe when they did PDD.) Needless to say my experiences have been somewhat different than your description.

I never got any SDCC exclusives before the Sarge. I got him at GIJCC for the non-paying member price (I signed up after Christmas 2010). I did get SDCC OP Mighty Mugg on eBay and the Prowl one from last year on HTS. Oh, and I bought the SDCC 25th Soundwave from someone on TFW after Christmas 2010, too. I paid more than the $50 he went for. I knew I should have just grabbed him, but I was unemployed at the time and not really collecting TFs. I only had a few at that point.

So there's the pre-bitching about the bitching, the complaining about the entitlement (because they're entitled to a message board without differing opinion), the comparing of mass-produced toys to one-of-a-kind works of fine art... yep, must be convention time.

I can tell you that I am glad that I've been able to go cold turkey on this Joe collecting thing.
I mean, realizing that Hasbro is a money making company first, you can't blame them for generating hype that'll certainly produce sales. Don't have to like it, but it is brilliant. And hopefully, they are trying to do the right thing by limiting just exactly how one can obtain the exclusives. With any luck, HTS.com will actually get a healthy share. Though the website traffic will still make things stupid. Again, I didn't like that previous SDCC exclusives have found their way to Canadian Conventions, online retailers and my favorite, Phillipine Store Shelves... There's a reason that they are exclusives and I never saw Binaltech Dark Convoy at my local TRU. And there's a reason that my BT collection will never be complete. Anyway, I certainly wish you all luck on the post SDCC Monday. Hellion, I hope you understand when I tell you that I will most likely be otherwise engaged [sleeping] and have no intent to check up on HTS.com. About the only thing I need from the coming offerings isn't really even an SDCC exclusive, just a first release. But I'm sure Hasbro's MP Rodimus will find his way to my collection eventually. |
