This is assuming that new episodes of "Renegades" are not coming back after hiatus...and I highly doubt they will be. The creative team, actors, animators, etc., aren't just going to sit around and wait for the next year and a half.

I don't think anyone knows that for certain or not. But I do think it's clear that Renegades won't be working as a marketing tool in the way it should; at no time will Renegades branded figures be on the shelf at the same time as new episodes.

That's pretty much what I was getting at with the whole Transformers thing. Hasbro always seems super-eager to throw out the baby with the bathwater the second the Next Big Thing is even hinted at. Unrealistic expectations on the part of retailers probably have something to do with it, but that doesn't explain the baffling decision to finally have non-movie media to support a toy line, then not release any media-related toys.
As for "hiatus," Alternators went on hiatus IIRC. To make way for the Bayformers. Everything takes a back seat for the New Movie. And so far, the New Movies have been 0-for-3 in my book. The only reason I'm not more bitter is that Hasbro seems to have gotten the memo that updated classic designs are money in the bank. They brought back Classics -- twice -- and turned it into a line that rivals Alternators for pure win in my eyes. They cut off 25A, but came right back after the movie line with a hybrid classic/modern line that hit it out of the park. And since they seem to get the whole classic update = sales concept, I suspect that we'll see Techno Viper and Sci Fi even if the Renegades line never makes it to retail. BTW, Hicks, your neck is showing. *offers sunblock* ^_^-b |

Could be that maybe they'll go ahead and produce the episodes and simply finish the series without airing weekly. Then, when the hiatus is lifted, the season will just be broadcasted and concluded.
As for figure releases, Hasbro confused the issue with TFs by having too many lines going at the same time. Including crap filler lines that target younger children with very little interest in anything. I think that they wanted to avoid doing such with the Joes... The problem is, in the case of Joes, the look and design of the figures blur enough between lines that they could've all sat on the shelves together without anyone knowing. Kinda like how PoC was originally speculated to be a follow up to RoC before head sculpts were changed. Movie TFs, however, are distinctly different than any other TF line. Most evident when they tried to use old Cybertron lines in the Movie series. ...But what do I know. Hellion: To quote the Coe, it would seem "my long can't just cover up my red neck." |

The company who makes prepackaged "blood" for "vampires" must be feeling like they missed an opportunity.

They look nice. If they were retail I'd buy them. I don't think I'll be chasing any of these down though.

You know, the convention set itself ain't bad. If I had a spare 500 bucks, I'd have spent 300 and change on it. But the extras? Meh. Aside from the moccasin, MAYBE, all passes for me. I am more likely to shell out $$ for individual Joe characters I won't get any other way, rather than Cobra.
