Yea...there's no way in hell retailers will sell it for $29.99 $40 seems about right.
Rock Viper is the most disappointing figure they showed IMHO. Blowtorch obviously is up there, too...but I was hoping the Rock Viper was 1990 Rock Viper. I guess we'll see the 7-packs at Joe Con? Zarana potentially being SDCC may indicate no Dreadnok 7-pack, which is fine by me. |

I honestly thought that the Renegades would wind up being the 7-packs.
The Zaranas and the Starscream Skystriker are going to be a bitch unless Hasbro really ups the production. I can only hope they're releasing images this early to gauge hype and thus determine production numbers. Maybe we should start a begging campaign now. |

In fact, I think I'm gonna go to the Hasbro site right now and send an email on said matter.

Renegades 7-packs? I thought they said classic all the long..."to complete a collection." So long as they're not Tiger Force / Python Patrol, I'll be happy. I could deal with a Dreadnoks one, but if they did that w/o Zarana...welcome to backlash city. I'm hoping for misc classics Joes and misc classics Cobras heavy on the vipers (HEAT, Frag, etc).

Oh jeez, just checked in. Holy shit, I'm speechless. Okay, maybe not. *breathes* SDCC is going to be a madhouse. That Starscream Skystriker may be the most awesome toy reveal ever. Zarana is damn fugly lol. The Techno Viper is gorgeous. The IG is using the moneybags Destro body isn't it? Prepaints FTW! Love the takes on the Viper and Trooper. Rock Viper I'm cool with, could have used a green visor though. Hawk looks odd. BAT looks amazing. Where the hell did that SE come from? Is SB using that narrow-ass Shock Trooper torso?
Also, I can get behind these MSRPs. Here's hoping. Either way, I'm going to be broke. And... I still haven't even checked any of the TF stuff. |

Hawk is already written off as Grunt for me. The others will find their place. I, too, am glad to see the Techno Viper in his Kick Ass rendition along with a number of the others. The IGs will just be heavy armor support.
As for the Seven Packs, it may've been said they'd finish off a collection and I just missed it. Then again, we all know how plans change with Hasbro. The AoCI and DoCI sets were put together to finish out the 25th for collectors too. Perhaps we won't see any 7 packs at all with Crazy Legs and a few others showing up again. Either way, my Speculation of the Renegades was based on the idea that their designs would be somewhat off to the other line [much like many of the Resolute styles were somewhat off to the 25th and RoC] and thus be lumped together in seven packs as a sink or swim effort. Now, back to Hasbro and SDCC. I did just send out an email to Hasbro's customer support. I know it's early but it's worth the shot if it means even a few dozen more get produced over the Slaughter numbers from last go. |

I'm pretty sure Hasbro knows what they have on their hands with the Skyscreamer... both Joe and TF fans are going to be frothing at the mouth for this one. Maybe they'll make twice as many as a result. I can see them being gun-shy though because it's a large vehicle. With Zarana, I don't think there's an ME-Joe collector alive that doesn't want this figure. And for that reason I question the decision to make her an exclusive... unless Hasbro has a modern update in the wings. The con figure is pretty much dead-on for the original toy, which is cool (even though the hair probably could have been left safely buried in the 80s lol). They have plenty to pull from as far as other looks go, perhaps as part of a 7-pack?
I believe the basis of the collection-finishing nature of the rumored upcoming 7-packs was from one of the Q&As. The Cobra Island packs didn't so much finish off 25th from a collector's standpoint as much as it cleared out the classic designs Hasbro had waiting in the wings at the time. As the list of un-updated classic characters (which just got a bit smaller, damn that Techno Viper looks awesome) shows, there's still plenty of 25th-style work to do to "complete" anything. The big difference between Resolute and Renegades is that Renegades is kid-targeted and TV-supported. Shunting the toys off to 7-packs and denying them retail doesn't make a whole lot of sense despite the stylistic differences. I absolutely love that Hasbro is mixing classic updates, modern designs, and media-supported designs and just calling it "GI Joe." I think they may have learned a few things from RoC and its scorched-earth approach. And FWIW, my Grunt is the SRO body with the Aqua Viper Officer head. Since he (fittingly) never really made it past greenshirt-with-a-name status that figure works for me despite the odd shade of green. In my eyes you can take any current-styled military figure and say "Hey, look! It's an updated Grunt!" |

I am also cautious about the MSRP on the Skystriker, but 30, 40, regardless, BOUGHT.
The SDCC exclusives are the best reason to join the club. I got both Slaughters last summer for an utterly hassle-free $40 and shipping.

Yea, they must be the wave after Techno-Viper. I hope they show the 7-packs at Joe Con and I hope they deliver. If Zarana ends up being SDCC like they plan, then hopefully I can get one. Being a member at GIJCC will help. I'd like that Starscream Skystriker, but I won't kill myself to get one. I'm definitely getting the regular one though.
