Never specified which worlds other than Earth, which is obviously involved to some degree.

To be THAT guy...and because I'm wayyyy to involved in War of the Worlds.
In the original film it was Mars. But in the TV Series they changed it to Mor-Tax because we had already had probes to Mars. And for some reason in season 2 they for no real reason changed the name of their home planet to Mothrai. |

The tv series was crucial. I liked how they killed everybody. |

I don't remember any of this in the Tom Cruise movie.

You mean the Spielberg movie; it deliberately avoids mentioning their homeworld as a way of being realistic, yet not dishonoring the original novel.
Realistic in that we now know there is no life on Mars; and Mars is red because of the rocks, not because of red vines. Honoring the novel in that it doesn't outright contradict it. |

Well I thought that was sorta a given. But your right Mars. I think the reason given for the change between the film and Season 1 was to do with us having proved there was no life on Mars around the time the show was being made. I've seen the Tom Cruise version and honestly its not that bad a film...except the end him finding his son feels like a cop out like they needed a happy feel good ending. I even watched the C. Thomas Howell sequel to the Cruise film...which is pretty terrible even for a DVD sequel. |
