Does the search really work?

Hi. I've been having trouble with the search feature. Even if I do the "advanced search" it usually fails to bring anything useful. Example: I put in "direct-to-cobra" to find the comic thread, and I get 498 results. I know it's spelled that way on the thread and it does not come up. I try it with hyphens, no hyphens, title only, in the comics section. Nothing. (I can find it with google though!)

If I search on DTC in titles only, all open forums it gives me "no results." The same for "HTS" and I know there are a billion threads with that in the title.

If I search on one word like "scarlett" or something then I can get relevant results.

I'm not really trying to find this one thread, but just using it as an example here. I've had trouble in the past but can't remember what it was, I just remember usually giving up and finding it via google instead. All help would be appreciated.

The problem ypu are having with DTC and HTS is that the search feature doesn't look for "words" that are 3 letters or less (Sucks, I know)

Usually if I'm looking for something, I won't even worry about the main phrase. I'll remember something odd that was said or some uncommon word in the thread and do an advanced search for that in the forum I know it should be in.

Using the Direct To Cobra thread as an example (BTW, it's in the News and Rumor thread, at least, the one I found was) Searching for "Direct to Cobra" was pretty useless, but searching for "Munitia" only gave me 2 pages to look through and I found the thread in the middle of the first page.

It's not a perfect system, but it'll make searching a little easier

Thanks Shogi, good input. You'd think the title would be the easiest thing to search on. The funny thing is if you put

"direct to cobra" hisstank

(using quotes to make it a unique phrase) into google, the thread is the first thing to come up.
