But for some reason G.I. Joe was the opposite. When Classified was announced I was definitely curious, but admittedly a tad hesitant. But once they revealed one of my all-time favorite ARAH figures, Croc Master, I couldn't say no any longer and went all-in like gangbusters. Classified has now become one of my favorite toy lines to collect and is by far the most fun I've had with a modern toy line, even beating out another line I adored, MOTU Classics.

What didn't you like about TBS, DarthBrett? Was it primarily the new scale or just the quality of the figures? I only really collect OT characters, which sucks right now because the selection from those films has greatly diminished. There are still so many great 96ers they could do in that line but other than Hammerhead and an updated Luke and Leia, there's not much interesting on the horizon. I really thought we'd see palace and cantina aliens, skiff guards at least. Fortunately, GI Joe is hot right now and is filling the vacuum left by TBS.

Classified got me back into figure collecting as an adult. It's what brought me to this site and it's what's made me an almost daily participant in the discussions here.
When the 25th line started, I was in high school. I remember seeing that explosion background packaging in stores and wishing I had the kind of disposable income I have now to collect them. Looking back, I think those figures are terrible looking now and I feel like it was mostly the packaging that was drawing me in. After college I got back into collecting with Lego. A rather expensive hobby, but as someone who pushes pixels around all day, it was a low-stakes means of being creative in an analog way. A cathartic type of therapy that got me away from screens. With my passion for lego reignited I started watching lego reviews and videos on youtube. My algorithm started showing me 1/12 scale figure videos for Marvel legends and the like. I would watch them, appreciating the art form but never committing fully to buying anything. Then Covid hit and I saw that 00 Snake Eyes announcement on IGN. I wanted it badly, but I resisted, convincing myself I didn't need another hobby in addition to Lego. I passed on it until I saw the standard Snake Eyes in Walmart one day and put him in my cart. That was all it took. Been collecting every figure since, and I even got a chance to snag 00 Snakes when they offered him again as a second run way back in the beginning of everything. There are 2 things that surprised me quite a bit... 1.) that there are Joe collectors here that would even be opposed to a 1/12 scale figure. Like I was blown away when I discovered that people fight over scale, lol. It seems so petty and ridiculous to me. It's unbelievable to me that you can like a property so much, but if they release a bigger version of it, you hate it. So strange, and something that seems to be sort of unique to Joe (outside of star wars of course). 2.) how Classified has brought in so many new fans from the 1/12 collecting community. I've always love Joe since I was a little kid, so I was primed and ready for this more adult reimagining of the toys I loved growing up. But it seems fairly common to hear about new collectors who have no history or knowledge of GIJoe are picking up the brand and collecting Classified. I think that goes to show how well designed and executed these figures are. To me, the designs have always been fairly timeless (especially Cobra), but with no supporting media or anything, Classified seems to have pulled in lots of collectors from the spheres of Legends, Black Series, Mythic Legions, Mafex, and the like. The products are good to great, and sometimes that's all that matters. |

Honestly, Classified Series had a very rocky start, coming out in Covid, the Cobra Island fiasco, and the awful Snake Eyes movie wave that clogged shelves. When it started, I was convinced it was in trouble because of it. And yet, despite that, I feel they really turned the boat around and course corrected in an amazing way. The mainline I think is doing better with blending designs, and now we even have the retro waves, no longer exclusives, to bring back more classic designs. It had a rough start, but I think it's been getting better and better every year.

I don't know, because I don't collect too many vehicles even in the TVC scale either. But that certainly didn't help lol I'm definitely more of a figure only type collector though. The one thing that I do love about the 3.75" scale are the playsets though. I love the Jabba's Palace set, Jabba's Throne Room, the Carbonite Chamber, the Tantive IV hallway, the Endor bunker and cantina. Hoping they do more. I do love some of the vehicles though. With G.I. Joe, specifically Classified, I would be okay if the line was just figures though just because of space. If I had a bigger place or a spare room I would probably be embrace 6" vehicles a lot more. I kind of wish G.I. Joe would do a 1:24 or even 1:36 or 1:48 line of all of the vehicles. I would buy them all in a heartbeat. I think it would be cool to have an armada of Joe and Cobra vehicles in a smaller scale. Plus any vehicle or playset would be possible in those smaller scales. Stuff like the Flagg, the Defiant, the HQ, Terror Drome etc. would all be poaaibilities with a 1:48 or even 1:64 scale Joe vehicle line.

I'm the same, only collect OT figures. I think that was definitely part of the reason, the fact that they really don't do deep cuts in TBS like the 3.75"/VC line does. Most of my favorite SW figures are the cantina aliens, palace denizens and skiff guards, which BS has mostly ignored. I think I also got turned off by Hasbro skimping on accessories after the first wave of BS figures. I'm glad I tapped put early because Hasbro really started to cheap out on tooling and gear for TBS.

I'm lucky... I only collect Empire and the core heroes (Luke, Han, Leia, Chewie, Lando, Ben, and the Droids). My main collection is really only missing the Imperial Gunner and an updated Old Ben Kenobi. Aside from that, I just need some Imperial officers they haven't made yet, like Motti, Tagge, JerJerrod, Needa, Ozzel, etc...
