I find it odd that there are those of us here, who have our own jobs and families to take care of, still have time to look at repacks, the tape on the packaging, etc., but yet the actual retail workers, who get paid for working in the toy departments don't look for these things.
Back in 1993, I worked in the toy department at my local Walmart. I was 19 years old. My job was my department. Make the shelves and pegs look presentable. Look for defective, torn boxes, inventory, and whatever else. My organizational skills really showed and my manager loved it. Every day I would find one package to a whole cart full of of packages that were defective, torn, toys taken out, crushed, whatever. I don't know what has changed, I know what's changed in the average employee as far as work ethic(a lot of them don't give a fuck), but my local Walmart has gotten worse than before. Plus, there was a time there (and still might be happening) where Hasbro and other manufacturers were opening sealed boxes and re-taping them because they left something out of the box, I guess. I saw that a lot just a decade ago.

There were two Walmarts within reasonable driving distance of me, one closed for some reason (a few years before they actually remodeled it to add a full grocery store section!) and supposedly all the employees there were offered positions at other Walmarts, including the Super Walmart a few miles away, but after awhile the remaining Super Walmart went back to understaffed mode. And I live in a bottle return state, so the bottle return machines are usually 1 out of 7 plastic/aluminum are working and there's a 35% chance the one glass return machine isn't working. I don't even go there but twice a month tops but it's like that more often than not. (But retailers hate bottle return stuff anyway)
Oh, and they removed all the price check scanners in the Super Walmart. WANNA KNOW A PRICE? TFB!! (TRY FINDING BRAD...he knows the prices) |

If you download the Walmart app on to your phone, it includes a barcode scanner. Note this is not a defense of Walmart getting rid of in-store price checkers. That's stupid and you shouldn't have to download a company's app just to check there prices. But it is an option that exists if you don't have another way of finding out the information.
"Firstly, the maintenance of the price scanner was expensive. This forced Walmart to remove the Walmart Price Check Scanner. Secondly, it came up with a better method to help people get to know the price of the product. It was less expensive, required less maintenance, and was easy for customers to use as well. The customers can use their own mobiles to scan and know the price and don?t have to depend on the physical price scanner that was common to everyone. Finally, it is a win-win situation for both customers and Walmart. Walmart is able to save money and customer are getting better service from Walmart." I personally hated having to download the Walmart app but now I'm actually liking it. Mainly because when I've been having to find an item, that even a Walmart employee couldn't help me find, the app shows the EXACT location of that item. My daughter, while pregnant, was wanting an herbal raspberry tea. So naturally, I looked in the aisle with the teas. Couldn't find it. I found an employee and she couldn't find it. She also didn't have her phone or device to search for it. So I said, Well I do have the app. So I searched it. It was in the baby section. It even has a map layout with the shelves showing the exact location on the shelf. That was very convenient. |

Saw this in an article about why Walmart removed those price check scanners...

If you are in the store and scan with your phone, does it give you the price for that store??? or the website price? Lots of times the prices in store vs website are very different... and I have found in Target, the price in the app is for the website, not the store |

I am not a frequent walmart shopper... but one thing I am curious about is the price scanner in store vs on your phone or the website.

For that reason, I keep location off and only turn it on when looking for an address/I'm lost somewhere.

If you have location enabled on your phone, the prices you scan are the prices for that store. It'll also tell you which store you're in and where shit is at/supposed to be. It also tracks your shopping behavior, keeps track of what you purchase and suggests additional shit you might need/want.

You have to schedule an appointment? I thought you just got it parasitically by eating Great Value brand stew and other such shit. You know, like a brain-eating amoeba.
