Ok, so I took the top 9 vote getters from the previous two "Best O13 Figure" polls and put them together into this definitive poll to determine who is the best figure of 1982! I'll probably do this for every year of the original ARAH run (82-94), so hopefully it gets a decent amount of participation!
There were three figures tied for 10th place with 3 votes each... Clutch, Grunt, and the Cobra Trooper. I decided to just limit the choices to 9, instead of break the three-way tie.

Cobra commander. Just embodies the line and is a really nice figure

True, but he was technically a mail-away and not part of the retail line. Whatever, still released in '82.

Snake Eyes' head on Steeler's body, with the helmet. The ultimate, '82 troop-builder.

Went for Cobra Officer, which just edges Cobra Commander in my opinion. Maybe because I had the Red Laser repaint in the UK before Cobra Commander, the figure didn't quite have the same impact.

Voted SE since there's no Clutch (released with the VAMP in '82) in the poll.

Voted for Stalker, who at least looks like a proper soldier with the camo. How anyone can vote for Mr solid-black-oh-shit-we've-blown-the-budget Snake Eyes is beyond me.

Flash wearing a jetpack is what I picture when I hear "G.I. Joe."
He embodied the toyline for my six-year-old self. Take an otherwise plain green army man and make him futuristic, splash him with bold color and pattern, give him removable helmet and visor pieces for different looks and interactions, equip him with a laser, and don't even get me started on rubber tubing! |
