The Disney acquisition happened October 2012 and black series debuted August 2013. Thats not a lot of turn around time for a whole new line. Perhaps it would have been canceled without Disney?

I agree I remember talking about with other collectors and it was obvious they said nothing to Hasbro that it was going to be in the show. Why would they not go that direction with the HasLab? I think the Rancor showed around two weeks after the HasLab ended and maybe a little longer until he was riding him into battle.
Should have started the HasLab the day he showed up in the show and ended it after he had the battle scene. Instantly funded. If I was on the SW team I would have felt serious salt. Quote:
I think this is the biggest problem, not Hasbro. Rancor and Reva's lightsaber both reek of Disney pushing a Disney+ agenda. I can only imagine the frustration those on the SW Black Series team must be feeling.
The course correction, should TVC get another HasLab and Disney oversight continues, is a Ghost with partial/full crew in 2023 for the Ahsoka series. That will fund. Thankfully G.I. Joe doesn't have that oversight. Quote:
Rumor is blast effects, which are nice, but not as exciting as if hasbro didn't make them im sure a third party would. Whereas something like the hiss gunner wouldn't likely be available from anyone but hasbro. Then again with how fast its funding, I think people would buy in no matter what it is.

I think it was just very poor timing. The Rancor ended before he showed up in The Book Of Boba Fett. I would have backed it after seeing that in the show just to have Boba Fett riding a Rancor on display. I get the feeling Disney never informed Hasbro that was going to happen. If they had waited 2 weeks it would have funded.
As excited as I am to get the Skystriker, I'm kind of bummed we didn't get the ground crew. I would have gladly swapped either of the other 2 stretch goals for the ground crew. I'm really hoping Pulse puts out a 2-pack with ground crew figures around the time the Skystriker is getting ready to ship. Maybe do them in different colors since the red and yellow are supposed to be exclusive to the Haslab project. I do find it interesting that this time around they scaled back the backer numbers for the stretch goals. Tier 4 for the HISS tank is 16,000, and the Skytriker reached 16,342. I don't think that is a coincidence. |

For the best for everyone I think. My understanding from some other sources is that if a HasLab barely funds, it's kind of a loss for Hasbro. These are designed to hopefully go well over their minimum funding level.

Barely funding has the potential of people then backing out during the period where people can still cancel orders. I remember Galactus ending at a higher count but the final tally was lower but a few hundreds. Still over 30K of course.

^ Yep. I remember the Razor Crest shedding a couple hundred as well. The post-funding cancellations during that short window are inevitable.

In the 80s, cartoons were created to sell toys, now that?s flipped. GI JOE Classified exists to keep people aware of the Brand until the next big media project. GI JOE is more valuable as Intellectual Property than a toy line. (I think I sound like a broken record by now) *I work in the industry, so I?m not just talking. |

100%, but what's uncertain is if an unlocked stretch goal wouldn't be realized if the cancelations take it below a threshold (e.g., if this closes at 16,050 and we're at 15,978 30 days later, do we lose unlock #4? I know we'll close well, well above that figure, so it's moot - but for curiosity's sake...)
