So, we know that Freestyle is a cool character that hasn't really gotten much love. She is a USAF Captain (O-3) and Air Force Aviator. Now that Hasbro has relaunched the Skystriker, don't you think it's time for Hasbro to launch the F-22 Raptor for Freestyle to pilot?? Also, if you have never seen this fly, get to an air show..mindblowing... or do a YouTube search.

Would love another chance at Freestyle, but I doubt we ever see her again, since she was a Club Exclusive

I am fortunate to own the Night Force fighter pilot, Freestyle, that the G.I. Joe Collectors' Club made nine years ago, but I mostly have her fly jets other than the Night Boomer. For example, I'll have her fly the Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk stealth attack aircraft, using a 2004 Valor vs. Venom Sky Sweeper Jet. Because that figure is made from 25th Anniversary parts, it fits easily inside that toy. It has a detachable Spy Plane on the underside which is a clever and useful way to get the Night Force Advanced Recon, Sneak Peek, quickly behind enemy lines unnoticed. Quote:

She is a great character. I do not think Joe fans will forget her.

I'm glad you mentioned that, because her file card is an interesting read.
It mentions that she is a first-generation immigrant from the Dominican Republic, born in a New York City borough (the Bronx). She is the daughter of a New York cab driver. So, when did she ever live in the Dominican Republic? Was her mother already pregnant with her upon arrival to the United States, and that's why she was born in the Bronx?

Yeah, Jocelyn was born here, went back to the D.R. and came back at an early age.

G.I. Joe needs a fifth-generation fighter aircraft like the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor for Ace and Slipstream to pilot. Eighteen years ago, the G.I. Joe line featured one sold as the 2004 Valor vs. Venom Thunderwing Jet with a Slip Stream action figure. I've always used Ace and Slipstream as the pilots for that jet, but never Freestyle. I don't really have a reason why.
It has a detachable Spy Plane on the underside which is a clever and useful way to get the Night Force Advanced Recon, Sneak Peek, quickly behind enemy lines unnoticed. Agreed. Unlikely anyone will even remember that character before long, or many other characters that the G.I. Joe Collectors' Club created. If Hasbro did make an O-Ring figure of Freestyle, she would probably be unrecognizable in sculpt and have only one sentence written about her in five languages on the package. Very few people would know anything about her. I think relegating to Freestyle to the F117A - Nighthawk which is no longer in USAF service is silly. Let her pilot the Raptor. Let Ace pilot the Lightening II which is a Navy platform even though he really is a USAF pilot. |
