With Top Gun crossing $1 billion at the box office, I'd like to hope a newly tooled and improved Rattler to counter the Skystriker has at least been discussed at Hasbro.
I seem to recall Lenny hinting at other connecting ideas during a Skystriker live stream. Not that anything happened with those ideas. TBD. |

Speaking of kids today, when given the choice, my kid preferred playing with the vintage o-ring figures than the ME figures, cause the o-rings were less finicky and more stable. I think there's this assumption that more articulation and detail is objectively better, but that's not always the case... I think how the toy functions as an actual toy plays a bigger role, and the o-rings are still good toys. The fact that Playmobile, Polly Pockets etc, Toys that don't have a lot of articulation or hyper realistic detail, are so popular with kids, kind of shows that more articulation does not always make for a better toy.
To each their own but I think the later stuff may look nicer but you can?t beat ARAH for play. |

My kids prefer the o-ring Joes as well. I think a good example of the difference in playability is the Tomahawk vs the Ghosthawk. The Ghosthawk is absolutely gorgeous but an inferior toy. Swoosh that thing once and all the Joes in the cabin fall to their deaths because there are no seat back pegs. Even if there were the figs are slightly different in size and some have gear or vests that would preclude attaching the fig to the seat.

You're not wrong. As toys, they're severely lacking, and as adult collectibles, they pale in comparison to Classified. I tried to love ME, but they really just amounted to frustrating poseable mini-statues. They also had glaring holes in the roster- I mean seriously, no worthwhile Major Bludd or Tunnel Rat? No thanks.

Some of the ME figures are pretty great, and some are balls, but overall they're not as good toys as the vintage stuff. Classified though...Classified is a even worse as a toy and too doll-like for this dumbass who grew up with 3.75" figures. To each their own, man...let's not knock what others enjoy.

I don't think any less of those that collect them, in fact, having owned about 100 or so myself until a little while back, I totally get why people do. I personally just found that the were frustrating as hell, and couldn't imagine being given one as a child. I'll keep my dolls, thank you very much. They can at the very least hold their gear

I really don't look forward to the day when I have to include an obligatory "don't be mad guys, that's just my opinion" to every post I make.

Sure, but I'd say there's a marked difference between voicing one's opinion and whining for pages on end. I'm not qualified to say any of this stuff is better, just what's better for me.
