This basically came about because I found a 25th Blowtorch and looked at some blue and grey paint on the shelf. I was wanting an easy enjoyable repaint as a break from some other stuff I'm doing, well it didn't really turn out easy or that enjoyable tbh but he got there in the end!! I think this 25th version was made of sponge and some paint repellent shit. So many coats on there I lost count, I also thought putting a gloss coat would help protect the paint - I could literally see the paint coming off on the brush as I applied said gloss. Another 20,000 coats of paint and I'm done with him now.
I used a helmet from a 25th trooper for the unmasked and the original 25th Blowtorch helmet for the masked (fugly helmet) Enjoy or hate, decision is yours people. haha

I like it a lot. I remember doing some tweaks to my club TNT but can't even remember. I know one thing was that I wish he had the helmet and oxygen mask combo. I think the club one used a different helmet so I couldn't plug an oxygen mask into it.

Looks pretty good! Sorry to hear about the trouble with the gloss coat. I've not had a lot of good luck with putting on gloss coats myself. I've just kind of given up on putting any clear coats on my customs at this point. Hopefully the paint won't chip or anything too badly; I haven't had any problems yet.

I like it. The grey works better than the silver, at least in my opinion. This is a great way to use at least one of the extra Blowtorch figures that some people got while building their HEAT-Viper armies.

He came out looking good! Enjoyed that version when the Club put theirs out so really cool that you were able to create your own and save a few dollars. I know you said you had trouble with the paint but you can’t tell from the pics! Well done!
———- Did you prep him before painting? When I started with MTF figures, I did no prep because they just took the paint so well. With the Marauder contractors & WW2 stuff I was having the problem you were describing, paint was just not sticking to the figure. I started washing them with dish soap, whatever is in there breaks down the grease & coating on the figures and that really helped me. Just sort of massaged the soap into them, then made sure to rinse it all off. Dried them well and started painting. I use this to seal my paint, has worked really well so far & even though it’s a matte finish, it does give the figures a nice gloss. https://www.amazon.com/Plaid-Enterpr...%2C155&sr=8-14

That considered I probably got what I deserved with the paint problems!! Ah well....next time!! haha Thanks for the tip on the varnish, it sounds good tbh - I like exactly what you say about it, I like a little bit of glossiness in a finish.
