Made it to Tier 3 today, and immediately unlocked the main thing I was interested in - Paratroopers. They work even better than I had imagined! Level 1 Paratroopers can be deployed anywhere in the field, and cost only 56 minerals to resupply if they go down. Financially, this is much cheaper than using a Rocket Barrage to take down AA missiles. All I have to do now is just spend 3 energy to call down Paratroopers nearest an AA missile launcher, take out the selected AA site, and then if there's only 1 AA, I call in the Skystorm to start cleaning house. If there's another AA, then I can Rocket Barrage that one and keep up the original plan.
I'm currently upgrading the Flagg to level 8, and the main thing which interests me with that level is the Helipad. I've seen some bases with them, but they didn't have a helicopter to go with them (which seems silly). My hope is that once I build a helipad, then I can park the Skystorm on it to help guard the base. So far, I haven't seen many man-portable units which have AA capability (Bazooka is the only one which I am certain does, as I haven't played any of Cobra yet), so the hope is that having a helicopter on defense will immensely bolster my defense capabilities. It all just comes down to whether or not it works the way I hope it does. By the by, if you ever see an offer to buy the Skystorm, DO IT. I think it was only $12, and so far it's my MVP since there are so few things which can touch it. I can't believe it, but I actually kinda want to buy the toy now. I never before had any interest in it. I do wish that the developers had instead used the Dragonfly (or maybe even the Sky Hawk or Locust), but the Skystorm is growing on me.

Decent attack strategy rules. I’m about to hit tier 3 for the Joes (already hit tier 3 for cobra)

Any tips or suggestions on beating the Level 9 Izrikus battle?
I’m deploying 2 rocket strikes first to take out as much as I can before deploying troops. No matter what, once I roll out troops I hear series of beeps followed by big explosions that almost instantly take out my squad. This battle is a good one to win as the payout says it is over 100K Minerals. Weird though that I beat it once and did not receive those minerals.

Thanks, I didn’t know that. Very helpful.
If you would, check out that mission and see if you can offer suggestions on what to take out first/what to deploy. It’s kicking my ass.

Ah, yes. Izrirkus, the "cash cow."
Intersting thing about that named AI battle is that is always seems to have a ridiculous amount of loot. That's a great battle on which to end the day, as you can be sure that your resources will be completely full if you get 3 stars. Let me see if I can make some tactical recommendations. - As I have mentioned previously (if you have the funds to do so), if you ever see an offer to outright buy the Skystorm, do not hesitate. It's a Tier 4 Rare, so getting access to it early in the game can be a massive advantage. I think it was just $12. Rocket Barrage first to clear out AA missile launchers, and then just faceroll everything else with the Skystorm. I almost question why the developers allow this to happen, as it seems so wildly imbalanced. - If you don't have a Skystorm, then I would highly recommend setting up Scarlett as your field leader. Her first leader power allows her to temporarily "flip" an enemy turret to your side. Be aware that you can't control it, so it makes good sense to flip the strongest turret you can find - namely Anti-Tank Turrets. Their high HP means that they will take more punishment than any of the other turrets, so the other turrets will spend more time being distracted and trying to get rid of the flipped Anti-Tank Turret. Take advantage of this time to pick off secondary targets. Scarlett's first rank ability is also fantastic, as it creates a decoy which draws aggro. It can be placed just about anywhere, and has a whopping 900 HP. So it's almost like getting to use her leader power twice, if you're clever about it. - Doc is invaluable. Level up her rank as soon as possible - I'd say before any other upgrades. Once she can heal more than one unit at a time, you'll be much more able to deal with AOE defenses (like artillery or mines). Be absolutely careful to NEVER let her near the front of the assault, though, as she can't heal herself. - Once you start seeing Factories + Shrikes, you're going to HAVE to have Bazooka in your squad. Otherwise, as far as I have seen, you won't have any way to shoot them down and they'll harass your infantry for the duration of your assault. Ranking up Bazooka so that his rockets fly further is also not a bad idea since this allows him to engage some turrets from outside of their striking range. - Try to pick off targets of opportunity before you engage in a direct assault against turrets. If you see anything sitting unguarded near the wire (e.g. mineral excavators), go bloop that first with your cheapest troops. That's just free action points you earn. Scarlett excels at this since she can attack multiple targets per shot from long range. - If it looks like things are starting to go south, drop a Smoke Barrage on your main force and then assess the situation. This also works wonders on any bases which have Storm Shadow set up to guard. Your guys can see him and will continue to fire on him, but he can't see you and won't attack. Storm Shadow is currently one of the biggest problems for my ground assault teams since he seems to have such high HP. - Use the bullet-time slowdown as much as possible! Just click on a single unit to directly command that unit. Even if you have them do nothing, while you have them clicked, time will slow way down to give you a chance to micromanage your next move. Sometimes your short range guys get way too overzealous and will wade into some bad situations. (I'm looking at you, Roadblock.) Try to position each unit individually and you'll increase your chance of success immensely. - My current team loadout is Scarlett as leader, Paratroopers for damage dealing and sneaky deployment, Doc for healing, Roadblock for tanking, Bazooka for anti-air and damage, and the Skystorm for cheating. No, really, once you have dealt with AA missiles, then you pretty much can just go teabag an entire base. I have yet to see if there are any air-to-air counters to helicopters, but it looks like at the moment each faction has only 1 infantry AA-capable option, and only AA missile launcher sites as base defense options. (Hmmm. I wonder if you can Rocket Barrage a helicopter? Could be good to test.) - Always check your cargo availability. You can only do 6 battles per day before your Battle Cargo runs out, so you're only making trophy and resource gains on those 6 battles. You can spend diamonds to reset the timer, but it's a pretty high cost. (I find that diamonds are much better spent on unlocking cargo crates.) Any time you see numbers in red, it means that you're not gaining trophies or resources. More to come as I continue to learn. I still don't know what the Intelligence resource is for. I think I have completed maybe 7 campaign missions.
