Here's another for today as I catch up. This distinctive little all-terrain vehicle gets overlooked by many fans, but the unique wheel setup was too interesting to not have a go at. So here is my Swampmasher.
I've recolored mine to more tactical colors, in order to fit in better with the rest of my Joe motor pool. I've expanded a little on the all terrain concept by giving it an elevating feature. It's a little difficult to see in the pics but, in short, my Swampmasher can move its sets of wheels closer together and raise the full higher off of the ground. Would you ever consider sharing or selling the LDD files for these?

Thank you for asking. I don't have instructions of LDD files as I design all of my models in regular brick.

"The Warlord provides a mobile armored command vehicle for Cobra battlefield leaders. Based on the Maggot artillery system, the Warlord has excellent terrain going capabilities and protects its valuable and highly trained crew against incoming fire up to and including 30mm cannon shells. The tractor unit has a driver and commander, while the rear command unit seats three battlefield tacticians."
Cobra's battlefield HQ vehicle needs more space in the back than I could fit into a HISS tank, so I went with the Maggot chassis as a base. The Warlord carries a small radar as well as lots of computers and communications equipment, allowing whichever Cobra officer is in charge on the ground to deploy and coordinate all their assets, while keeping up with all their forces. Bonus point to any sharp-eyed ARAH comic fans who can make a guess at what inspired the details on top of the command unit. I'm not going to build every last Joe and Cobra vehicle, but some of them are too awesome and iconic to skip. The Night Raven is one of the remaining major Cobra vehicles I knew I had to have a go at.
Pulling off unique cool-looking drop down cockpit took some time, and the mechanism for lowering it meant that my Night Raven has space for only one crewman, instead of the two I had hoped for. There are other fun play features including a brake chute, retractable landing gear, lighting up engines, control surfaces, multiple airbrakes, and an internal weapons bay. I may build a piggyback minijet or external weapons later, but for now my Night Raven is completed. I've wanted to build more winter/arctic hardware for both sides, and recently picked up a large amount of white brick to do this with. Here is the first of several cold weather vehicles.
The Cobra WOLF was the signature Cobra arctic vehicle, but it wasn't the only one. The Ice Sabre came along in the early '90s, at a point where bright colors and gimmicky play features (in this case a strange "rotating cockpit") were beginning to dilute the excellence of the line. But I've always thought the Ice Sabre had the potential for being a great vehicle. I suspect my Ice Sabre might actually look better if it were rendered as a slightly smaller vehicle than what I ended up with, but I was dead set on making mine large enough to fit half a dozen dismounts. It works well in cohort with my WOLF and Paralyzer. I've built more elegant vehicles before, but what I am most proud of with this one is actually finding space for all the heavy Snow Serpent gear on the sides. And of course the Joes will need some reinforcements too. |

Here's a quick double post of two small vehicles.
The Devastator is a little obscure, but I think it works very well to fill the "one man arctic vehicle" niche for Cobra. I like the triple track system, which seems to be ideal for lots of terrain types, so I may have a go at other variants of this in the future. Devastator by Magnus-L, on Flickr The Ice Snake probably isn't a fan favorite, but is probably one of the more realistic of the arctic vehicles of the G.I.Joe line. Like the Devastator, I'm not quite sure if I've done the design justice in Lego, it is hard to get a shape down when trying to keepit small and compact. Ice Snake by Magnus-L, on Flickr Enjoy! Next up is my G.I.Joe Avalanche |

"The Joes stay frosty with their newest arctic combat vehicle. The Avalanche is a virtual rolling arsenal of weaponry, packing a 35 mm autocannon and coaxial machine gun mounted in a remote turret. For taking on enemy armor, the Avalanche carries eight ATGMs and also pair of rear mounted landmine launchers, each with 36 antitank mines that can launch to the sides or the rear.
The Avalanche's lack of a high caliber gun and limited protection for the driver mean that it is not suited to fighting as a tank up close against heavy enemy armor. But its unique weapons combination makes it very adept at both defending against waves of advancing enemy armor and at supporting offensive operations from afar." Front by Magnus-L, on Flickr Avalanche by Magnus-L, on Flickr UAV storage by Magnus-L, on Flickr UAV by Magnus-L, on Flickr Avalanche and UAV by Magnus-L, on Flickr The Avalanche is another strange looking vehicle from the G.I.Joe universe. It is big, tracked, and heavily armed but it isn't quite a tank. But what is it? A missile-armed tank destroyer? A mine layer? A mini air vehicle carrier? It's unlikely that a single vehicle would be all these things at once, but I tried to retain all these functions in a way that seemed just a little more plausible and believable. The result is a fairly major redesign. I could have ended up with a cleaner look if I had placed the turret centrally, but I wanted to keep the asymmetry which seemed to me characteristic of the original design. I was torn between this canopy, which connects it to the original aesthetic, and an armored driver's position that would have been a lot more realistic for an armored vehicle, but the big canopy just looked right. I changed the mini aircraft to a UAV, and found space for a second crewman behind the driver. |
