The new Cobra Trooper gives me a huge boner. I have 4 of them, but want more and haven't seen them in weeks. I'll buy everyone I see.

This is the figure that convinced me to return to G.I. Joe collecting this year.
I now have dozens of them, using everything from Marauder recon assault rifles to Sunbow laser SMGs. It's a truly awesome figure.

Main problem for this figure( and the Viper), is that the right hand has difficulty holding most guns. Also often the hand stretches and needs to be heated to get it back to shape for it to hold a basic weapon again. Changing guns is a problem, cause of the grip issue. Preposition right hands seems a repetitive problem issue with Hasbro for quite a few 25th style
I like the updated Cobra soldier and Viper looks, I still prefer the originals. But again, I do like both and have built a pretty nice collection of both, but they're very pricey. Last edited by CG82; 10-21-2018 at 02:49 PM.. |

There's a lot that's cool about the fig, but a few things set off my OCD tendencies (as is often happens with franken-joe releases) and prevent me from fully loving it.
Here are a few of my issues: 1) Ill-fitting and under-detailed webgear. I've rectified this via Marauders, but that gets expensive! 2) The legs. A fine mold to be sure, but I just can't abide Cobra troopers running around with the same BDU pants as Snakes Eyes and a bunch of other Joes. And 3) The way the headsculpt interacts with the neck/torso. To me at least, it seems like the trooper is always hunched over and/or looking down. I just can't get him to stand up in a natural way like I'd like. Maybe it's jsut me, but Iit's frustrating. Anyway, for a character as important and iconic as the Cobra Trooper, I really want a totally unique sculpt -- no franken-joe compromises! -- with all the bells and whistles of 30th/POC sculpting and articulation. Just like we got with the Retaliation "ultimate" figures like Storm Shadow and Cobra Commander. That's my dream anyway!

I think they tried a little harder the the SDCC Cobra missile command base figures, but they're still not really trying like they did the original 25th release Cobra troops. I also would like to see actual legit updates of the classic designs like they did with some of the figures.

That might be true, but the sculpt is quite poor compared to the POC trooper. I like the uniform from the original figure better (the fallen collar looks great), but 25th figures are just super dated.
