Ok that's interesting but krake and Tomax stuff is still a big mystery that I think hurts the story instead of adding suspense. It feels like a plot hole not a fun mystery to wait for them to reveal. When they tell us what happened I bet it's in a one page "oh btw we used to work for krake then he died"

When they started up Revolution, they needed to address really what went on with Cobra, cause it all just is a mess. Travis was going in a different direction, and her series got cancelled so it seems like universe details were missing, as she made huge changes that never got explained. She setup Tomax as being in charge suddenly, which they kept going into Revolution.... yet still not explaining it? Then we suddenly have Cobra has collapsed?

They should have let Traviss finish her arc. It was written really well (and Steve Kurth was killing it on art). She was clearly building to something.
The longer they wait to explain what is up just confuses things unnecessarily. |

They also replaced Storm Shadow, it was ambiguous what happened to SS at the end of Agent of Cobra, but they just out of nowhere had a new female SS suddenly was pretty odd. They also pretty much did this all in the Micronauts and Revolutionaries stuff? This makes things kinda complicated when major character changes are happening in cross over books

Cobra Commander isn't a title. He's a person. Just like Snake-Eyes. Funny how LH realized this in the 80s, and fought to keep the original CC alive. Now Hama jumps on the bandwagon and voluntarily kills off the series main star so someone else can hold the "title". Meanwhile IDW turns Cobra Commander into a hand-me-down any fanfic-reject can use this week if they feel like it. Might as well give the title to Road Pig and stick a fork into the series.
In this scenario, Cobra Commander is the secret leader, whose identity is also secret. The first one we meet is similar in behavior to the classic comic Cobra Commander we all love, except he's more calm, patient, smooth, and regal. I do not believe this is "our" Cobra Commander in the IDW universe, I think he's some kind of European aristocrat. We never learn. The second CC ends up being a completely fantastic new character who we had already come to love for over a year as an aggressive, manipulative, physically dynamic Cobra agent known as Krake. As soon as he was sworn into office we got a special issue unmasking him in a flashback and showing us his upbringing as a child soldier and revolutionary leader in a fictional Eastern war-zone nation. |

I liked that Urso guy. He had a good character threat build-up. Anyone remember him?
