Skinny asked me this: "Has G.I. JOE finally jumped the shark?"
If you're not reading this comic, you should! If only to rip your hair out! (Me? I take it with a grain of salt. As long as they continue to put more JOE out there!) |

Definitely a shark jumping moment. It thrust the comic right into cartoon territory.

The art is looking especially shitty in this one. Kind of hard for a piece of shit to stand out in a sea of feces, but this issue does it.
I swear, it's almost like the whole series is just some kind of trolling joke. There's no way the creative team puts these together and is oblivious to just how mind-bogglingly atrocious they are. Crown jewel... more like the anus wart. |

Ha, I was wondering if anyone was going to talk about this crap comic. I just checked out the preview on Comixology and it looked like shit. I never made it past issue 1. The art is just terrible and I don't think the writer is very good. He doesn't seem to get Joe, in my opinion.

They have managed to turn GI Joe into a McDonald's commercial.
I have a confession. Usually I drop a comic I don't enjoy but this....this is like a train wreck I cannot stop. I keep buying the damn thing just to see how bad it gets and it keeps getting worse. I can't stop though. It is getting so bad I am beginning to enjoy it. That said though, I think once I manage to ween myself away from this atrocity I am going to dump reading anything IDW puts out. I am offended they pass off this art on us. Sorry Mr. artist whoever you are, this is horrible. It comes off as lazy and rushed. Panels often don't even look finished with the guide lines still in them. I'm also sick of Scarlett looking like a chipmunk. Other IDW comics are not this bad with the artwork, why would they allow it for their "crown jewel". IDW seems to be a one trick pony anymore with nostalgia properties. The writing is pretty poor throughout the line, especiall Joe. Dark Horse and Image have titles that are wiping the floor with them.

I've said from the beginning that I never cared for a rebooted JOE. I think this is exactly the way to do it for younger readers: fighting Rom, Micronauts, Transformers, etc. Somewhere, many fans got the idea that G.I. JOE was supposed to be "realistic." It's never been realistic, especially where the toys, comics and cartoons are concerned.
That being said, I'm just glad this had nothing to do with Hama's RAH. He has a pretty good balance (most of the time) on how to mix sci-fi and real world scenarios. Last edited by seaneley; 06-28-2017 at 01:45 PM.. |

The artwork in this book is so bad it's amusing.
