Looking at those parts, it makes me wonder how the canopy of an APC would look on a Snow Cat. It's got the same shape to fit the lid, I just don't know how close the sizes are.
I really can't wait to see how this thing turns out. It'll be the best G.I. Joe reveal this whole year! Hopefully I'll be done by the end of the year, just found out I get to go on a six month trip this summer, so my goal is end of next month, then maybe one more before end of summer. Appreciate the props, but there's some other peeps Wips that I am impatiently waiting to see revealed that I think are amazing. |

Been slacking lately, so I worked on it a couple hours tonight. I added all the accessories to the interior, started detailing the engine bay and closed up the side storage. The sides still need some work, but need to let the glue cure overnight, hopefully tomorrow night they will function:
Also got a sneak peek at what's next, (disregard all the crap on the "bed"): Im going to attempt to elongate the snow cat tracks by combining a pair together. Will be good to put my Dremel to work. I think it looks beefier this way. |

It would look really cool if you could blend the two treads into one but I am afraid that it will not work because of the type of plastic it is. No way to cover up the seam.
What about putting 3 complete treads under it.

Update: I got the side door's hinges installed, and they work pretty good. I just need a simple idea for a latch if anybody has a suggestion. I would try to copy Freakingtiger's, but that's above my skill level right now... |

could make a friction latch. Just glue a bump on the door to push tight against the top when you close it to hold it shut and then a fake handle on the outside tou use to open them
I would also recommend getting some little picture frame nails. They are very small with very small heads. They work much better to use as the pin in the hinge. Much stronger then the thin plastic rods.

I'm thinking that you can combine those tracks. Any access to larger tools? I'd be tempted to toss it through my bandsaw, even tablesaw. Cut through the center of a wheel on each end and combine.
Oh, I second Dremel on the little nails. Looking amazing. |

I'll pick up some nails next time I'm near the hardware store, thanks for the tip! The opposite side stays closed with friction just fine, but there is the tiniest of gaps on the side shown, so I think I'll add a couple tabs as you suggest. Pretty simple now that you mention it.
There is a wood hobby shop on base not far from my house, but not sure what tools they have, I'll check it out one of these days. I know it's gonna take a lot of work, but I think it'll be worth it to give it a try. |

Would it be easier to get the treads off another tank, like a True Heroes one or some sort of Tonka digger instead of mending two together? There has to be something out there that would fit.
As for a door latch, you could always use two small magnets glued on. |
