Yeah, this is terrible.
A big part of the problem is that they are trying to introduce five different storylines and bring them together all at once. That's where a lot of the stupidity is coming from. They are trying to do in one page what anybody else would have done over the course of six months. There is no time for any thought or reflection, because they are cramming as much as possible onto every single page. I get that these are probably never going to be dramatic character stories, but the breakneck pace and check-the-block writing style is terrible. |

For the first time since IDW took over, I like their main series.
I am eager to see which Cobras and Joes are wraiths, how Rom dispatches entire towns, how the Transformers are now at peace and caught in the middle, how Miles Mayhem is going to screw up the entire MASK program for his own gain...I don't really care about the Micronauts but it is cool to see Action Man get involved. They have joined the universes seamlessly. Ore-13 is the main thing everyone is after and if you think things are not to your liking now then you had best bow out before Aubrey Sitterson comes in and really shakes things up with the Joes and Cobras, Especially if you did not like his Street Fighter Series (which I thought was great and I hate Street Fighter) GIJOE learned their lesson from Tom Scioli (I didn't like his series but it was a good seller). Make GIJOE and the rest fun and enjoyable. Cobra has not even shown itself yet. I like the change-up. I did not like Dixon's run at all. I really did not like Cobra and Cobra Civil War. Light, fun, and now all the gang can join in. Not sure how you have not seen this world, but to me, other than the Joes never mentioning giant alien robots before, it works. Take Action Man, you might work with him from time to time but you don't mention him in every day conversation because he is like an outside contractor. Rom just landed on the planet so he is as new to everyone as he is to the reader. Ditto with Micronauts and MASK. All new elements. A simple tie to the original Adventure Team with Miles Mayhem and Colton is all that is needed. I never mixed toys as a kid, it did not make sense to have Han palling around with Duke. All of these elements however originally took place in the same decade. The comic series is fine. The new HCU however, worries me a bit.

I just don't want Snake Eyes to become a Jedi with some off-the-charts Midichlorian count, Destro dealing with the corrupt Trade Federation and Cobra Commander having Hotwire working with Sifo-Dyas to make a hybrid clone-B.A.T. army.
Katniss and Scarlett can use their bow/crossbow chemistry to become a deadly duo and we find out that while Storm Shadow is Dauntless it turns out Shipwreck is Divergent and that is why Voldemort is so intent on capturing him (alive). Maybe Dwayne Johnson can play both Luke Hobbs and Roadblock, teaming up to track down Vin Diesel, who used to work at Manny's Mean Machines with Clutch before the events of Fast and the Furious.

I like the comic series so far. Haven't read M.A.S.K. yet as I can't find it in shops or online. I think IDW are mixing the characters and franchises in well.
Like you though I never mixed my toys as a kid but for the future longevity of all these brands it can't be a bad thing having all these franchises in one sandbox as it will expose fans of the other franchises to GI Joe and vice versa.

Ive been reading the summaries that YoJoe has been putting up, and the character profiles that TFWiki does, but other than that I havent picked up a single issue since the Revolution started.
I could care less about Rom, and no interest in the Micronaughts. |

I like it and think it's long overdue for all these Hasbro properties to interact. The only thing I'd change is that the Micronauts don't have to be stuck at 4" tall in our universe. That's just stupid...
Plus, it doesn't interfere with Hama's universe, so I'm game for anything. |
