I use Goo Gone to remove sticker residue and dish soap to remove dirt.

To the OP, I have seen this ploy many times. a few years ago on the Bay I saw an Vintage unused MIB Droids(not GI Joe I know). The price was 65 bucks but the shipping the guy charged(and I remembered it)was 200.

If you REALLY want to clean it up pristine before applying new stickers, NOVUS 1 plastic cleaner is the ABSOLUTE BEST PRODUCT out there. It will clean and somewhat restore the plastic leaving it as close to new looking as possible (outside of sun damage or scratching). For light to moderate scratches however, Novus 2 and 3 can often fix a large portion of that.
Novus is not expensive, probably $20 for the large gallon on amazon or ebay. (2 and 3 come in small bottles, you don't need larger ones of the scratch remover). Novus is a professional product, you cant just buy it at Target or Walmart, but its easy enough to get off of ebay or amazon. The reason it is far superior to soap and water, pledge, or anything else is because its formulated specifically as a plastic cleaner/shiner/restorer. It doesn't just clean plastic, it restores its quality. Its used for many different things, I first encountered it being used to maintain pinball machine playfields, which get very dirty and banged up from the balls, ambient dust, and dust attracting lights. I really should post some before and after pictures using it once and for all so everyone can see. For sticker residue I agree Goo Gone is pretty much the standard, although Ive sometimes had better luck with Adhesive Remover bought from the electronics store. Either way, let it soak in for a minute or two before you try to wipe it. It takes a second to dissolve the residue. I suggest a) Quick dust off with micro fiber towel / or blow out with compressed air. b) Goo gone any residue/ sticky situations then c) spray with Novus and detail clean with a microfiber towel. After that you can attend to scratches, etc and new stickers. I don't care what ANYONE else says, I'm telling you true here: nothing will make it look better than Novus, because it cleans AND restores plastic. You will be amazed!
