I wonder why IDW doesn't launch a companion series in the ARAH continuity? If they want to have more than one title why not do that?

I think the only reason to maintain the old continuity is Hama nostalgia. Otherwise you can almost always get more mileage from the characters in a rebooted continuity.
That does make it a bit harder for fans. Fortunately we already have our own "Crisis on Infinite Earths" to pull all the Joeverses together with "Worlds Without End." |

I like the new stuff, but I think ARAH sells better. I'm guessing the new titles keep getting cancelled due to sales, so why not just do books in the continunity that people are interested in?

They need to bring back Christos Gage and Mike Costa or somebody who knows how to update characters the way they did.

I'm a big fan of both series.
I will admit, the last two seasons of the IDWverse as they call them fell flat. But I'm still interested. As for a second Hama title I don't think it would work very well. ARAH at its height even Special Missions couldn't support that was a second monthly title...but I did like what DDP used to do with a quarterly Special Missions book. I think that would work really great...a regular monthly Hama ARAH written book and the occasional Special Missions stand alone book would be fun and keep from it getting stale. |

I agree, bring back Special Missions. It had a grittier feel to it and Hama always found a way to integrate some of their storylines into the main series.

That's not true. The older more gritty IDW G.I. Joe sold in the range of 16,000 to 20,000 copy range. Any reboot or renumbering has fallen flat including ARAH that sits around 6,000 - 7,000 per month.

I read both, but favor ARAH as it continues the old Marvel run. Nostalgia factor I guess.

The original runs of IDW continuity (G.I. Joe Origins, G.I. Joe: Cobra and G.I. Joe) were incredible. The Fred Van Lente run killed all momentum the IDW G.I. Joe continuity had and the Karen Traviss run was the nail in the coffin. Both were not good at all for completely different reasons. But most people I talk to (that collect G.I. Joe Action Figures) have not picked up and G.I. Joe book in a very long time. I think back when 25th Anniversary was hot and Hasbro was using the classic core characters in the production run of figures, a lot more people were paying attention to the brand. The numbers don't lie. http://www.hisstank.com/forum/idw-g-...ead-order.html
