I guess the demand wasn't as high as many of us thought it was. Still almost 11,000$ short with 2 days and 8 hours to go.

1:18 is such a mature scale for military themed figures and army building. We've been accumulating figures for decades now. We lose the original weapons and need replacements. We get sick of weapons and want something new. Weapons become obsolete and require updating. Some weapons that should have come with a figure weren't included and we need to right a wrong. And armies of the same figure holding the same weapon could use some more differentiation in their gear. All of those drivers put together are probably just enough to make MGR viable. With a new scale, we haven't had time to lose the original weapons; we haven't had time to get sick of them; the weapons haven't had time to become obsolete; army building -- if they offer army builders -- is going to naturally be less prevalent at a higher price point. We may still need to right some wrongs and fill in glaring omissions, if there are any. But that's only 1/5 of the drivers. Clearly, a handful of gun-toting Marvel characters is not enough to support aftermarket 1:12 weapons -- not even close. But even the announcement of a 6" Joe line wouldn't turn the situation around overnight. Demand would have to build up over years as more and more figures were released. And I really can't picture a 6" Joe line lasting more than a year or two. |

Too bad. John had told me they would have 1:18 VERSIONS made of all these later on.

Hey Folks!
Well, we tried! We now know that the market for 1:12 scale gear is not quite ready for such a project. Maybe someday, but not today. We can now openly say to those that ask for 1:12 gear that we attempted a 1:12 scale kickstarter project and the current level of interest is just not there. Now...back to our 1:18 scaled projects..... MJ

Seems like some people are blaming the result on a lack of getting the word out. The fact is that there wasn't any discussion going on. The project got hardly any comments and this thread has a measly THREE pages. John did what was asked and put the demand to the test. The information WAS out there; it's just that news is ephemeral and if you blink, you'll likely miss it. Discussion is critical for keeping a project in the public consciousness and discussion is fed by interest in the project, which was low.
Sometimes results don't match our predictions and we have to have the humility to admit when we're wrong. The Kickstarter missed by a LOT. It's doubtful that there's any tweak or extra PR that could have turned it around. |

Oh we did put the word out trust me. We campaigned in the marvel community. Heck they even had contest going in one. But it fell short, people said they wanted it. They had their chance, So with that said and done, we'll stick to our roots.
