Guess we'll find out next year.
I'm leaning towards no, but things can always change.

I'm sure they are going to sneak in some ARAH stuff next year. Or at least I hope they do.

I just don't think repaints of frankenjoes is gonna cut it, especially if Hasbro wants to try and snag the younguns over the next few years--which they need to do. They're gonna need to move beyond Modern Era for that. And thus, invest in some new tooling. Hell, maybe they're doing that now.

Yeah, and it's only gonna get worse. Cheap labor is disappearing, the cost of materials and transportation are on rocketship to the stars and the sales of action figures are dwindling, which means they're trying to find a better profit per unit ratio. Here's the thing though, it's happening to just about every product type too. They're raising prices on stuff while decreasing the actual amount you get per unit. Coffee, soap, potato chips, toothpaste, lotion...on and on. And it's only gonna get worse as water becomes more scarce. Good times!

Would you continue buying Joes if they were repaints?
Now I'm not talking about just reproducing the older figures like they did for the Anniversary line. What if they produced new figures in a similar way as customizers do - by mixing and matching bits from different figures and painting them up differently - would you buy them? |

But I say, let the Club have at it, at this point. The full ARAH panoply. Whatever. Not that I don’t want ARAH influence or aspects in future Hasbro product, but for Modern Era updates—go on Club, make that ’84 Duke if ya want. ‘Cause I’m done. Next Era please.

I think Hasbro still could but maybe repainted whereas the Club might get the ARAH paint. Not sure though.

That's another thing that bugs me about the FSS. I understand regulating characters like Big Boa, Tiger Force Shipwreck, Cesspool, etc to the FSS, but Repeater, Muskrat, etc aren't conventionally marketable? I also object to putting troop builders in the FSS. Desert Scorpion should not be available only in an expensive subscription. I would have bought at least 6 (if I could find them). And for those who say the FSS is for figures that Hasbro isn't interested in making, I will say that Hasbro is stupid for not making some of these figures. I guess they figure that we need yet another Duke or Snake Eyes.

I think that Hasbro has partially mitigated the costs of their 50th Anniversary line by releasing repaints. With no tooling costs (a big expense right there) and using lower cost materials, they were able to release these figures at a relatively low price point: Under $8 per figure. Was it the best solution - I doubt anyone could agree on this, but it does bring up an interesting point:
Would you continue buying Joes if they were repaints? Now I'm not talking about just reproducing the older figures like they did for the Anniversary line. What if they produced new figures in a similar way as customizers do - by mixing and matching bits from different figures and painting them up differently - would you buy them? Just for a few examples: Suppose they released a new Cobra Trooper similar to the DTC V3 using the Cobra Combat Ninja as a base - he would be dark blue (like the newer Troopers) with a red Cobra symbol on their lower left chest and a red stripe on the hood. He would have web gear similar to the Invasion Firefly and a few weapons to choose from. There would be nothing new except in a different "mix". Would it be something collectors (and kids) be willing to buy? |

And i highly doubt hasbro is investing in new tooling for it now.. Because..they dont currently have a kids TV show, or movie, to make toys for. |
