My serious side says no So I voted No. but my Fun side says YES!
I have him as the pilot of the RHINO Helicopter. He is my most senior Warrant Officer with Wet-Down. I like MagicK's idea of him being a Billionaire weapons designer, but I already go that covered with Iron-Man and Batman.

This poll is also not asking whether Trakker is in the Joe canon, but if he's a member of G.I. Joe. So that's a different question. Some people may feel his file card suggests he is part of his own group and just cooperating with G.I. Joe. I would agree with that based on the text. Just like Oktober Guard isn't part of G.I. Joe, they have worked with them at times.
The text of the poll question is also laughably biased. There was no need to say he's "as much a part of G.I. Joe as Roadblock." You could ask if Warwolf was as much of a part of G.I. Joe as Snake-Eyes and he'd lose that poll too. Whether he's in any part of Joe canon or not is not a matter of debate or a vote. He was released as a G.I. Joe figure so the facts are indisputable. His file card doesn't describe M.A.S.K. canon. For one thing, it explains how Cobra created V.E.N.O.M., which obviously departs from M.A.S.K. canon. So it's G.I. Joe's own version of the character. If Fridge is a part of G.I. Joe canon, then Matt Trakker is. You could say the Fridge figure was a "tribute" to Fridge. Both are true. They are tributes to a character and were also inducted into G.I. Joe. The same would've been true for Rocky if he got made as a Joe figure. Just because a character comes from another canon doesn't mean they can't become part of Joe canon. You could say the same for some comic book universes. DC characters Blue Beetle, Captain Atom and Question originated at another company but DC bought that company and adopted them into their own universe. If I called someone at Marshall's and asked what G.I. Joes they had in stock, they would have read off Specialist Trakker. So what's obvious to a store clerk shouldn't be in doubt by seasoned collectors. The canon of the comic books and cartoons has differed widely at times. AFAIK, most collectors would consider the file cards the bible, the true and central canon of G.I. Joe. What happens in the other media may diverge from them in their own ways, but the file card would always be referenced as the "correct" canon whenever there's a contradiction. Normally I would've said no but given Beef's parameters for inclusion of all characters in Joe media I have to say yes.

Nope, never was and hopefully never will be. He's a member of MASK, not G.I. Joe. "Joining forces" doesn't make you a member of the team. Serpentor and Dr. Mindbender joined forces with the Joes in the Cobra Civil War, but nobody would ever think of them as G.I. Joes.
The figure that we got was just a shout out to the fans in a toyline that featured no new characters at all. He had no comic or cartoon appearances, so he never figured into any story. He was a nostalgic gift from Hasbro. Given that the original filecards were written by Larry Hama, they just fell in line with what he wrote in the comics. So you can believe the comics, or the cartoon, but the filecards weren't a tiebreaker. Now we have the movies that have their own mythology. |

No he was made by a competing toy company that was purchased along tome ago as part of a hostile takeover by a great toy company that wound up making him i like his head sculpt but thats it , now if they want to make a whole line in 3-3/4 scale i would buy all of them just to have more custom Fodder .

You made some interesting points but this line stuck out and totally derailed my thoughts of is Tracker a joe.
Did that really happen? You really called a Marshall's and the went over and told you what figures were there? I would have never thought to do that. I'd never expect them to wade through all those toys on the floor to see what's there (plus I'd rather go myself and dig through everything, I've found way too much shoved under something else in an area not close to other of the same ect). |

I voted yes, Hasbro made him a JOE. If you chose not include him in your universe that is up to you. You can also not include Duke if you wish, but he s still a JOE.

Uh, no, I never said I called Marshall's.

But since you said in the other thread he should be eligible for the greatest character poll, you're showing how it's totally disingenuous to use this poll to determine eligibility for the other poll, when the question here has nothing to do with eligibility.
