Well, WSJ sort of leaked this one out. It's been confirmed as official. I've got the picture and opinions over at the usual:
Nickelodeon's new TMNT first image It's not perfect, and there's one potentially controversial change (but it's unconfirmed at the moment) and generally some positive stuff going on. Turtle fans should check it out. Last edited by Sergeant Slaughter; 03-07-2011 at 06:05 AM.. |

Sergeant Slaughter, Thanks for posting that new image of the TMNT. I have been a fan since the original cartoon. With the exception of...Turtles Forever, I skipped the 2003 series after only a few episodes, as it didn't have that same goofy fun, found in the 3 live action Turtles, CGI TMNT or the original series. It is a shame, if Mikey is without his Nunchucks, as they are truly Iconic weapons of Martial Artistry! I also hope that...April is a, reporter like in the original toon, as I enjoyed her Lois Laneesque role, in comparison to the antiquities dealer of the CGI TMNT film. Also, will, Shredder be in this new series or will he be missing in action, as he was in the CGI TMNT film. Regardless, I want to see, numerous, Foot Ninja, Reporter April, Goofy interplay with the Turtles, Splinter, and a lot of fun!

As far as teaser images go, I've seen worse. But I like it a lot. The wraps are something that have popped up periodically since the original Mirage comic series so they aren't jarring for me.
Mike not having his 'chuks is strange, only because he's noted for bragging about being a master. I liked the CGI movie a lot. I've heard nothing but goog stuff about the 2k3 toon (minus people who missed the humor of the "original," even though the original was a dark comic book with random humorous overtones... But I digress.), so i'mstoked to see is in action. Quote:

xSwamiJayx, If you are referring to my post, I do realize that, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were a black and white comic first. I never read that though. So, my favorite Turtles series was their 80's-90's series, which also inspired 2 side scrolling beat em up arcade games.

Def not enough there for me to be critic about but it doesn't "look" bad.
I'm sure like everything else they'll be some head nods to the old school and some stuff we've never seen before. I'm sure we can throw any head nods to Laird and Eastman's comic out the window...but I'm sure we'll plenty of familiarity from the original cartoon days. |

The designer got back to some fans on the nunchucks and this is what he said:
"Regarding the weapons, that’s just one of many images that was used for the composite. Don’t get your panties bunched, it's ok. Promise." "Incidentally, what kind of sense would it make to "outlaw" two wooden sticks, but replace them with a swinging blade on a chain? Come on." Not that he doesn't actually confirm that Mike will have them. It's still up in the air at this point, I suppose. More than likely they're just going to be downplayed. |

Comma Abuse? Are you a...Lawyer? I did not know, that was a crime. And I understand relating better to the original cartoon as opposed to the comic. But the2k3 cartoon had a more serious tone because it was directly asked for by Laird. Dude had a ton of input is time, even going over scripts and making changes and helping plot the overall story. His blog has a lot of really neat information on it. Quote:

I think that the idea of expanding Mikey's character by adding some other weapons to his repertoire is a cool idea. Anything that keeps the Turtles fresh is OK with me. As long as they keep their core attributes, I'm happy.

Bring back the original Turtles, the Eastman/Laird Mirage Comic Turtles, and we can talk.
Anything based on the 80s cartoon is an instant pass. And how can anyone make a judgement on that pic? Low res. Early design. Mid-action. Not even close to being a good pic to make any judgement on.
