Not quite. While filming, the crew uses "heads on sticks" as stand-ins to give the real actors line-of-sight to where the giant CGI transforming robots will be during the final film.

So the actors are looking in the right direction when the finished product comes out, basically.

tf2 was utter bullcrap. turned me right off the whole franchise. if i wanted to see two kids running around bionicles i would play lego with my sons. and be better entertained...
