Lionel Wigram, one of the producers of the recent Sherlock Holmes movie, will be giving The Three Musketeers, the Holmes treatment, meaning it will be a more gritty and action packed. The swashbukling classic will be helmed by Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Mr. & Mrs. Smith)
The Three Musketeers (Warner Bros.) Theere's gonna be another version of the story in 3D by Paul WS Anderson. The Three Musketeers (Paul WS Anderson Version) Anderson's version stars: -Logan Lerman as D'Artagnan -Luke Evans as Athos -Ray Stevenson as Porthos -Matthew Macfayden as Aramis -Christoph Waltz as Cardinal Richelieu (YAY!) -Mads Mikkelsen as Comte de Rochefort -Milla Jovovich as Milady de Winter -Orlando Bloom (in talks) as Duke of Buckingham Well for the other version by Liman, I hope they cast these: -Henry Cavill/Thomas Sangster/Aaron Johnson as D'Artagnan -Viggo Mortensen/Jason Statham/Liam Neeson/Michael Fassbender as Athos -Gerard Butler/Russell Crowe/Liev Schreiber as Porthos -Antonio Banderas/Sean Bean/David Wenham as Aramis -Mark Strong/Tom Wilkinson/Ralph Fiennes/Alan Rickman as Cardinal Richelieu

Two at the same time?
That's very odd. Weird.. Liman's version will be cool. I like his work.

This makes me a little sad...there was another movie with Orli that was supposed to be made that was a sendup of Merchant-Ivory movies called "The Remains of the Piano" where he would've played Daniel Day Daniel. And Will Kemp would have been his rival for Neve Campbell...Leonard Bastard.
Oh, what could have been....

The old three musketeers with Michael York as D'Artagnan is one of my very favorite movies. I love it when they bring the musketeers to the screen so each of these sound fun... but I'm sure Anderson will find a way to disappoint me... he usually does.
It would be nice to see someone do 'Twenty Years After' again. Usually it's just Three Musketeers and The Man In The Iron Mask getting made but there's some great stuff in 'Twenty Years After' for musketeer fans! |

I still love "The Musketeer". They did a great job on that one. Hope they don't seriously mess this up, because anything is possible these days.
