Hugh Jackman announced that filming will begin in the next 12 to 18 months for his follow up to X/O: Wolverine. Woohooooo!!!!!! I am so stoked for this one!!!!!!!! NOT!!!! Ok, I'm being a little harsh. Unlike most of the fanboys, I enjoyed X/O: Wolverine. I didn't think it was a great movie and I definitely didn't think it was bad either. Jackman has made a career out of playing this character and it is time for him to move on.
The ideal number of sequels to an original is 2, to round out a trilogy. But we have seen Jackman portray Logan five times already! Even though, I might see this latest addition, I'm getting bored with it. |

I like XO: Wolverine, but it suffered from the "too many character" syndrome.
I absolutely LOVE the opening credits of Logan and Creed fighting the various wars thru time, showing how old they really are. Great stuff there.

TROYNOS: You are right about the characters. At least they didn't overload character stories like Raimi did with Spiderman 3.
People, don't get me wrong; I did enjoy X/O: Wolverine. I'm just ready to move on from seeing Jackman portraying the character on the big screen. |

Unless he gets too old to pull off the role, there's no reason why he shouldn't keep playing Logan.

monkeywrench: There isn't anything wrong with Jackman, he is freakin' great as Wolverine. I guess my gripe is wanting for more from Marvel.

You are right. I totally agree. I just don't want Jackman to end up doing crap movie. To me, go out on top. As much as I love Christopher Reeve as Superman, look at what happen to the franchise, by the fourth movie. Or consider the previous Batman franchise and what happened after Schumacher took the reigns from Burton.

The actors have no control over that stuff. They are contracted for the roles. I'm sure when he agreed to do Origins, they put into the contract taht he agreed to do any sequals.
He has no control over what the scripts are or who the directors are. Just like Reeves. He was probably signed to do a 4th movie before anything went into production. When you get an actor that is so associated with the look of the character, you have to sign them as soon as you even think about doing the movie. So Reeves just signed for "4th superman movie" not knowing what it would end up being. With Batman, Schumacher had a good reputation back then, so the studios didn't know what they were in for when they signed him.
