Terminator Genisys, a terrific viewing experience. Like Jurassic World, it reinvigorated the series after two previous bad sequels by bringing back exciting action, perfect special effects, a fast-paced plot, likable characters, actors who know how to act, good dialogue, a sense of humor, respectful callbacks to the good original movies and some new plot twists.
This had a really smart script which is better than T3 which had a dumb script and Salvation which had no script. Like Back to the Future II, the time travel gets really complicated and half of the fun is listening to the characters try to figure it out and explain it to each other. This was a great comeback for Arnold. He showed all his old charisma and delivered the kind of one-liners he's famous for. There are now 3 good Terminator movies. It has such a quick, smooth flow to the pacing, without the dark, bleak and depressing aspects of the first two Terminators, that I think it'll be the best one of them all to rewatch on home video. Yes, I don't go to a theater often but my daughter really wanted to see this. It was great. I loved how they worked in the original Terminator and seamlessly moved on. I had read an article in Guns and Ammo about the armorer for the movie and how they had to cover the variety of eras with the firearms. |

Mission Impossible: Rouge Nation (yesterday)
Ghost Protocol is still my favorite from the franchise.

Mission Impossible: Rouge Nation - It's hard to say if it's better than Ghost Protocol, but it's right on par with it. I think this one had a better story and villain though. GP had a better big stunt for the middle of the movie. Really enjoyed the movie though, it's a perfect summer action movie. I suspect that they moved it up a few months so that it could be out ahead of "Spectre", which seems to have a similar plot. If so, good move, you never want to be the second movie out when it comes to similarities like that.
The most amazing bit of trivia that I've seen about this movie, is that Tom Cruise is five years younger now, than Jon Voight was in the original Mission: Impossible film! |

Fox are desperate to do something with the F4 so they can keep the rights and stop Marvel getting them back and automatically making, like, half a billion dollars when they do it right.

I really don't think that there is a right way to do a F4 movie. It will never be an Iron Man level of hit for Marvel. The best they could hope for with it is an Ant-Man type thing, and that would mean having to give it a lower budget, which is tough since you have four characters that all need heavy fx work. If anything, the F4 would work good in a complementary role to another hero or heroes. It's kind of the same thing as with the Hulk. Maybe they need to put the Hulk and F4 in a movie together so we could see Banner working with Reed, and having the eventual fight between the Hulk and Thing. The F4 might work in a cinematic world full of heroes, but it'll never work on their own.
