Wife and I are both home sick (actually sick not sick-cation) so we just finished watching "Major League" in bed. She fell off, I can't sleep.

Spectre - I've enjoyed the first 3 Daniel Craig Bond films upon seeing them initially. Casino Royale was the best of them, but it was still 15 minutes too long. If they'd cut out the poisoning scene it would be perfect. Quantum of Solace had some good action scenes, but a weak villain. And plot. He was stealing water. Water! And while Silva was too Cesar Romero-ish, Skyfall had so much style that I can overlook the faults a bit. But Spectre is just sort of...blah. Right from the start something just felt off. The movie has no real story of it's own, it just leaches off of previous ones. I get what they were trying to do, but it just didn't work. It's not what I want from a Bond film.
Funny the media made a thing about Monica Bellucci being the oldest Bond girl yet, and she's on screen maybe 10 minutes (Out of a movie that runs 148 minutes). A lot of nods to past Bond films...but nods don't make a movie. |
