The Mask of Zorro - One of my favorites, though it's been years since I've watched it. How did Banderas' career go so wrong when he had three great films (Zorro, The 13th Warrior and Desperado) out so close together? To me, this movie is just perfect. The heroes, the villain, the girl, the fights, the good-old-fashioned stuntwork, the chemistry, everything. It's such a shame that the sequel was so lousy. But any movie is when you add a kid to the main cast.
It's so easy to see how the Zorro character influenced Batman. It makes me want to see a modern day Zorro movie. |

Wow, I did not know Walter Hill was still doing anything. I just watched Last Man Standing, also. Good remake or reimagining of Yojimbo.
Tonight at work I watched World War Z and Star Trek Into Darkness. WWZ was high on the "meh" scale, and Star Trek was okay. I think I expected too much. Next I will watch either Miller's Crossing or Barton Fink. Coen Brothers always take the sting away after watching an underwhelming movie. Last edited by Iron Guru; 09-11-2013 at 07:29 PM.. |

Jack Reacher - Just a really solid thriller. Good fights, a great car chase, and some genuinely shocking scenes. It really got overlooked last winter when it came out so soon after the school shooting. Tom Cruise just makes the most watchable movies of anyone out there. I hated the guy in the 80's. But sometime right around when he made "Mission: Impossible", everything after that just seemed to click. It amazes me that I own more blu rays of his movies than of any other actor. He may be a nut, but he can make a good movie.
