The Dolph Lundgren version of The Punisher
Better than people give it credit for, but bad direction in some scenes jar, as do a few bad American accents from the Aussie cast.

so with Star Trek hitting here this Thursday Fiona & myself said we would kick back this weekend(last 2 weeknds have been hectic socially) and watch some Trek movie goodness.
Star Trek:The Motion Picture. my God.....there are no redeeming features here.just effin awful. Star Trek II:The Wrath Of Khan. excellent....still joint tied as my fave Trek movie.apprpriate too because I still say John Harris is Khan in Into The Darkness.guess I will find out Friday. Star Trek III:The Search For Spock not as bad as many say.....I think its the 2nd best of the odd #.....but Kirstie Alley being a total biotch did this damage and the character of Saavik an awful bad turn.when Robin Curtis was recast as Saavik Rodenberry lost interest in the character.hard to blame him since his expiriences with Alley were dreadful. |

Star Trek:Generations
easily the best of the odd numbered Trek movies(III is 2nd).I still love the sequence between the Bird Of Prey and Enterprise.plus the destruction of the Enterprise D was a great scene. still say Kirk should've had a better checkout but Im fucked If Id know how to do it. |

Commando - Ah, a true classic. Still fun to watch. I'm actually more impressed now by how athletic and swift Arnold was for such a muscle-bound guy. Most guys like that are about as nimble as cement truck. I still say they should make a sequel to this with Arnie and Alyssa Milano. They could even use the script they planned to use for a sequel...until Arnie dropped out and they ended up reworking it for Bruce Willis and calling it "Die Hard".
And... Iron Man 3 - Just a hell of a good time. I get the feeling that Downey improvised more on this movie than any other, but it works. It requires multiple viewings just to pick up on every joke. I still think the first was the best of any of the movies featuring Tony Stark. But origin stories always have an edge by being self-contained. I loved how the movie featured Stark more than it did Iron Man. I think Shane Black did a great job directing. He should get some more work from it. But goddamn Jon Favreau...put down the donuts. He was almost as big as that damn rabbit! |
