"X-Men: First Class" - This is another case of a movie that I really liked in the theater, but it's not holding up on repeat viewings. It's really only any good when Michael Fassbender is on screen. And even his logic is flawed. He hates humans because a mutant killed his human mother. What? There's just too many people in the rest of the cast. Havoc was just useless. So was Angel. "We need our own army to fight Shaw, let's bring in the stripper with pixie wings!". Then there's January Jones and Rose Byrne, they need to stick with tv shows. When Xavier sees Shaw's plan by reading Emma's mind, it looks like something Dr. Evil would come up. All that was missing was the sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads! Anyway, visually it's a good movie. But I would rather have just had a solo Magneto movie like they've been saying for years we'd get.
One thing that I never did notice, the guy with the CIA director that Mystique copied in that meeting was William Stryker. Did they ever say his name in the film? I swear, they got every stereotypical actor they could for the supporting roles. Ray Wise as the Secretary of State, the Russian General, the Russian Captain and then Michael Ironside as the American Captain. |

I'm really looking forward to the new "Hannibal" series on NBC next month. The trailers for it look amazingly good. Mads Mikkelsen is the perfect choice for that role. |
