Does the "Last Page" thing not work for anyone else? I keep having to go to the first page, then type in 215, since that's the last page of posts (on my setup), even though it lists 227 as the last page.
Anyway, tonight's movie was "John Carter". It's one of my favorite movies of this year. It's unfortunate that it will always be known as a bomb, because it's a really fun movie. Just as "The Avengers" made $500 million based on it's trailer, "John Carter" lost $200 million based on it's. I just liked everything about it. It's got a Narnia/Star Wars vibe to it. Nothing cynical about it. I thought Taylor Kitsch was great on "Friday Night Lights" and I hope he gets more chances on the big screen. The movie really think that this is what a "Masters of the Universe" movie should look like. A great blend of technology and nature. And Lynn Collins would make a perfect Teela...if she hadn't played pretty much that exact character already in this movie. Last edited by Iron Guru; 11-21-2012 at 11:52 PM.. |

I felt like watching a Christmas movie tonight, so I put in "Lethal Weapon".
A classic. And just as good today as it was the first time I saw it. The blu ray is still grainy, but thats the way the film always was. It's probably as good as it'll look. I never knew there was an actual song and video called "Lethal Weapon". It's awful. Every 80's music video cliche mixed into one horrible...thing. |

I've watched a few lately. "Thor" and "The Avengers" a couple days ago. Still not crazy about Thor, but the Avengers is always a fun one to watch.
Then I watched "Blitz", a Jason Statham movie that went right to video here in the US. I can see why, it's pretty awful. It feels like it should have been the script for an episode of a tv show, and not a movie. Then last night there was "Cliffhanger". Still Stallone's best movie to me. It kills me to know that Christopher Walken was supposed to play Qualen though. That would have made the movie even better. |

Mystery Science Theater 3000 The Movie: Hilarious big screen adventure to one of the coolest shows on TV and saw this in theaters when i was 14 and loved it.
Oliver and Company: Who remembers this movie? i saw it in it's original release when i was in second grade 5 times and loved it, i had some of the merchandise like Mcdonalds toys, Mcdonalds Ornments, soundtrack on CD (still own it), PJs, 2 t-shirts, stuffed Oliver, readalong with cassette, junior novel, a couple of sears PVC toys and all that. I was disappointed it didn't show up on video the next year as i wanted it and it took 6 years, but i'm glad it did and got it for christmas on video when i was 15 and it's one of my favorite Disney animated movies ever. Scrooged on blu-ray: Awesome and underrated dark comedy take on Charles Dickens's story that i saw 3 times in theaters as a kid. Home Alone 1 & 2 on blu-ray: 2 fun holiday comedies from John Hughes with the first one i saw 5 times in theaters and the second 3 times in theaters when i was 9 and 11. Bad Santa on blu-ray: Raunchy and un-PC yet hilarious holiday comedy for the whole dysfunctional family, LOL. |

I liked the second Holmes movie better than the first, but Downey still just seemed like Tony Stark in the 1800's to me. I like Holmes as more of a thinker and less of a fighter.
My last movie was "Die Hard 2". Still a fun movie to watch, but I couldn't help but wonder why they didn't just call another airport and have them tell the planes what was going on?! |
