MINOR SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS AHEAD
Yeah saw that. Seriously hope that was written by someone with no skill in conveying the story as it sounded so very bland, disjointed and rife with cliche. I suspect that Ridley Scott wouldn't be responsible for such a mess and that much of the more nuanced plot points have been glossed over... "Engineers want to destroy life on Earth"..? Yeah, and...? There must be more to it than that. Not keen on some obvious 'homages' to ALIEN either: The android is decapitated again...? One single female survivor again...? This film may become a victim of too much absurd hype. So many people (not me) are formulating elaborate theories about the plot and how it all fits together that I reckon they'll be monumentally disappointed when they see the film. The writer has openly stated he'd like to see sequels, but making the first instalment so open and vague to deliverately allow for that is a bit presumptuous. |

Reviews are coming in from Europe. A lot of people are talking about plot holes. It sounds like virtually nothing is explained within the movie. It's like a series of disjointed, inexplicable events.

I just don't get this. When it came down to it, ALIEN didn't have an especially 'stong' story. It succeeded because of the atmosphere, production design and quality of the casting/acting. Why they felt the need to go to the other extreme and bog down this prequel with too much techo-babble and pretentious 'world in peril' nonesense is beyond me.

May
Developed a huge crush on Angela Bettis when I first saw this film a while back, and (to a lesser extent!!) on her character. Never have I wanted to cuddle a homicidal maniac like I did poor May...

Batman Begins for the first time.
Wow, wasn't at all what I expected. I was expecting an summer action flick, and I got a horror movie. But don't think for a second I didn't love it. Defintely one of the best superhero movies ever! Gonna rent the dark knight on Saturday.

Everything Must Go. A real quirky drama with a little comedy thrown in. The best Ive ever seen Will Ferrell. I hate the guy, but this WAS NOT him. I really liked this movie a lot.

Not really a movie, but I watched a six hour (six episode) stint of The Bridge on Blu-Ray. It's an atmospheric Swedish/Danish crime drama that had me hooked from the start. Only sleep deprivation prevented me from watching all ten hour long episodes in one go.
As a result, I think I'm besotted with lead Sofia Helin now... Her portrayal of autistic policewoman Saga Noren is quirky, funny, sweet and captivating... I identify with her utterly.
