Indeed... One of the worst in fact (and I'm a Hammer fan). Cheapskate sets, Lee looking utterly cheesed off (and using a knife to kill a fellow vampire?), rotten rubber bats, boring 'hero' and... Bob Todd? Couldn't be more different to the elegant and stylish "Horror of Dracula". Definately signs of a great studio in decline :(

Yup. Bella gets pregnant thanks to some incredibly violent - sorry, ''passionate'' - sex from her now-husband Edward (he leaves her black and blue but she keeps begging him for more, which is a great message to send) and when he discovers this (because they seemed to think humans and sparkly homosex- sorry, ''vampires'' couldn't breed) he then tells her to ''get rid of that thing.''
However, he then discovers he can telepathically communicate with the foetus(!) and so they go through with the birth. But the creation of a vampire baby (or the proposed turning of Bella, I wasn't paying attention) is in conflict with some agreement they had with the gay boyband werewolves, so Jacob the shirtless werewolf volunteers to kill the baby. But as he walks in and sees it - and I shit you not - they make eye contact and he has a fantasy about her as an adult and then falls in love with her. But to sidestep all the associated nastiness of a 19-year old falling in love with a baby, they describe it as ''imprinting.'' So that's OK then. Seriously, if you have an impressionable daughter (or gay son) who reads these books, you need to sit down and have a long talk with them. Thanks for filling me in but, all of this stuff sounds weird. If I'm not mistaken it's a woman that wrote these stories. Teen and tween girls aren't the only ones eating up this stuff up. Grown women love it too. They're just so into the glittery predator and the boy band.

Thankfully, I've not seen any of the "Twilight" movies, although my wife's been watching them with a female friend of hers when I'm at work. I don't feel as though I'm missing anything.

The Twilight movies defy the norm of actually having to see a film before passing judgement on it. As the saying goes: "you don't have to fall off a cliff to know it hurts".

Weirdly, despite being really smart (she married me, so she must be!) she doesn't see the bad in the books/movies. I don't mean bad writing or hammy acting - I mean that she doesn't get it when I point out how the story basically says ''all men are bastards, they will hurt you and violate you in ways you can't imagine but your role as a woman is to not only accept this but crave it and encourage it. Oh and while we're on, it's fine for a 19-year old to fancy a child.'' Which is what they really are about. They're seriously fucked-up.
