Thought AvP: Requiem was garbage though... Like one of those really bad "CGI monster of the week" movies that turn up on SyFy.

So very many...
Mission Impossible 4 - very fun. Brad Bird definitely proved he can direct live action. Ok story, but a lot of the fun and spectacle of the MI series without the things that normally drag it down. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows - also a lot of fun. The plot is streamlined and efficient, but intricate enough to keep you guessing. Really good action as well. I was hesitant since Guy Ritchie hadn't ever done a sequel, but I was very pleased. Tintin - the animation was superb. With the exception of the certain character designs, it was very realistic. The textures were very photo real and everything just looked wonderful. The story doesn't do much for the uninitiated and it does drag a bit, especially at the end, but I think it's got a real shot at dethroning Pixar this awards season. The Artist - just lovely. It's a great novel idea, doing a silent film about a silent film star whose career takes a turn when he scoffs at sound. It's acted wonderfully and the score is perfect. Definitely one of my favorite movies of the year. My Week with Marilyn - I'm actually a big MM fan, and while I was watching this I forgot that I was watching Michelle Williams. She's superb. It's got some really funny moment and the whole thing is very well acted all around. It's also another movie that has great costumes that won't be recognized by the awards because you don't win unless you're all sequins, feathers, and hoop skirts. Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - nothing revolutionary. If you've seen the Swedish version you've seen this. The performances are good but not so mesmerizing that you won't compare it with the original. It's more efficient, though, with nice pacing unlike it's meandering predecessor. But they spend a lot of time setting up a sequel that may not even get made because this installment isn't making money despite critical acclaim. Kung Fu Panda 2 - liked it more the second time. Great action and it looks fantastic. The tv show pales in comparison. Captain America - also liked it more the second time. It still sort of falls apart once he actually becomes Captain America - there's this great setup in the first 2 acts, but the 3rd act is over and done with so quickly because we have to get Cap to the present. It's a shame. Hopefully a sequel will take us back to the WW2 era Cap and give us more with the Howling Commandos. Priest - fell asleep.

Took the kids to see the new Muppet movie over the holidays. My wife and I absolutely loved it. My kids were bored.

Girl with a Dragon Tattoo - Holy balls!! Never read the books or knew anything about the plot so I was pretty surprised. Worth the trip to the theater.
Friends with Benefits - Far better and funnier than the Kutcher/Portman movie with a similar plot. Kunis is hot!! |

I don't know what it is, but the last few days I have been watching the Godfather Trilogy. Don't get me wrong, they are not the best films ever made, but there are some epic moments in the first 2 films.
