The underground indie scene is the way to go anymore, just some of the guys are more spoken word sometimes but the beats and hooks are something to write home about. We have a 4H Hisstank Hip Hop Heads group that we throw down info and some old school joints . All the people responding to the thread should get on board. The new Wu is really nice.

I have about 400 indie rap cd's I am looking to unload. Everything from Atmosphere to MF DOOM. I actually have the ultra-super rare SAD CLOWN BAD DUB 1-3 (one was never released, my buddy got it from Slug himself). 2 & 3 are hand-numbered and I got them from live shows locally.
you name it, I probably got it. all originals, and even some autographed. |

Sad Clown Bad Dub 1 sounds like crap, but it was never "released" so...but these selections I highly recommend if you are doing your homework on indie rap. The last one, Foreign Exchange's album, was my favorite of 2004 alongside Masta Ace's "A Long Hot Summer". Production by Nicolay, and lyrics from Little Brothers' emcee Phonte.
I am a firm believer that you have to listen to these when they were actually released respectively in order to fully appreciate them, but they are still classics nonetheless. Last edited by Mr. Gone; 08-23-2009 at 12:51 PM.. |
