alright come on guys, we all have our taste, threads like this is to bring our kind together, not to wage war between each other, i too yes think nas aint all he's cracked up to be, an when it come to a man that is ahead of his time or was, an is a full pledged lyricist would be my man kool g rap. with dj polo or without. he i think is the greatest emcee of all time. till this day he still is a beast an will manhandle alot of mentioned greats with his lines.. an big daddy kane too... i just wish i could say the same for rakim but getting anything out of him is like shin wishing rza would produce decks whole album.. but honestly, before nas should be mentioned, i think we should hear the name kool g rap prior...

Don't get me wrong, this thread won't divide anyone. In fact it's good to debate over styles and preferences.
Kool G. Rap is a given. Everyone knows what and who he is. It's like saying Rakim is the best rapper ever. WE all know this as a almost rule of rap. Is there a best rapper ever? maybe not. Can everyone name a top 10? Sure we can. But to say Nas is "ok", or not one of the best is definitely going to find a debate somewhere. It's healthy, and if we do talk about, i'm sure it won't ruin anyone's day. I think we should have kept this thread indie though, as the tastes of the original poster reflected. I suggest, as I did before, "Masters of the Universe" (2000) by Binary Star as a must for anyone who was a fan of the "underground" explosion '96 - '02 era. Ten years later and it is still in heavy rotation. Last edited by Mr. Gone; 08-26-2009 at 04:17 AM.. |

Nas is one of the best as well as one of the greatest of all time,he is possibly the last true mc. His reign on the top may have been short like lepricaun but it was that biggie and puffy hollywood bs that started the decline of hiphop. Anyone that thinks Nas rambles on and on and doesnt talk about anything clearly isnt listening hard enough. Illmatic alone stamped his greatness.

Kool G Rap is NICE !! One of my all time favorites along with Rakim and Kane . The R by Rakim is insane. Paid in full should be handed out to all wanna be MCs as a hand book. One MC that was off the charts lyrically and very often overlooked is Large Professor from Mainsorce I was also hoping for bigger and better things from Organized Konfusion and I also was just doing some digging and was checking out Freddy Foxxx aka Bumpy Knuckles.

Who wants to scratch it?
These are the last CD's I've purchase. All pretty good in their own right. Can you recommend anything good? Jake One - White Van Music Wu Tang - Chamber Music MF Doom's latest Cage - Depart From Me Above is the type of style I like. Let me know what you've bought lately that's good. |

Not sure if they've been mentioned, but The Streets (skinnermike.com - The official blog of Mike Skinner and The Streets) and the Glitch Mob (The Glitch Mob) are good.
