JGL's performance was absolutely on par with Ledger's Joker. HOWEVER- the role of "The Doctor" was more of the semi-melodramatic mad scientist and the tone of this movie, along with the type of movie mean that this will be completely overlooked by most.
Also, the Joker was a much more substantial role in a movie that took itself much more seriously. Add to that (and I'm not trying to be disrespectful or vulgar) Ledger's death and he is cast in a sort of surreal light. Like Brandon Lee, we saw him really explode as an actor from what was essentially beyond the grave. I believe that JGL has the talent and the chops to go the distance the way Ledger probably would have, but RISE OF COBRA only touched the tip of the proverbial iceberg. Perhaps that potential is there for the sequels. Also it should be noted that when a truly mediocre actor is cast as the lead, it may help the supporting actors shine more brightly, but ultimately it will color the public perception of a film's overall integrity. Absolutely nothing about Channing Tatum except maybe the cut of his hair said "Duke" to me.

If they just combine Weekend At Bernie's 3 with the 3rd Nolan-era installment of Batman... we get Ledger AND Andrew McCarthy.

oh man oh man oh man.
Was this thread started to be funny, or are there seriously people out there that would compare Rex/CC to Ledger? Are you on the level? For reals? I don't even need to argure this; the academy speaks for itself. JGL is a junior league JV actor; he has more than a long way to go, and now he has typecast his career w/ a blackspot. Ledger? No, no... Far from. More like Jake Loyd.

Any actor including Gary Coleman can have the potential to be a great villain if given the right role, the right director, yada, yada.........Fracken Yada! So with that out of the way if you seriously think that JGL performance was on par with Heath Ledgers Joker you are kidding yourself. JGL wont even get an Oscar nod let alone win. You need to seriously re-think that statement. |

Comparing Levitt to Ledger is like Comparing Guiness to Pabst.....neither comes close and never settle for cheap imitations.
Levit was a piss poor choice to play the role, especially when there are infintiely better actors out there would coudl done the roll better.christ LEDGER woulda been better (god rest his soul) especially after seeing him in the Order and then as the joker. |

A friend of mine thought Joseph Gordon Levitt WAS Heath Ledger when he watched BRICK.
They are quite similar in alot of ways,JGL was brought up alot on internet message boards when talking about a suitable replacement for the role of The Joker should he appear in Batman 3 (which he really SHOULDNT in my opinion) |

JGL cashed a paycheck... And has been laughing at the movie ever since. Perhaps some better check up on his interviews post-production.
Ledger = JGL Unbalanced JGL = Watercooler? Balanced.
