Let's cast...The Hobbit!

Ok, so we'll likely get some major casting news for The Hobbit films at SDCC next week - but before we do let's hear your dream cast for the films!

I really hope that Holm plays Bilbo (with a little help from special effects), McKellan plays Gandalf, Serkis plays Gollum, and Weaving plays Elrond.

Ron Perlman - both Bard and the voice of Smaug.

Danny DeVito - Thorin.

Robbie Coltrane - Beorn.

Sting - Thranduil.

The rest...I'll have to think over some more. This is more difficult than I though it'd be. :b

I think Ron Perlman would be a better Beorn. Robbie Coltrane in the role would be too much like Hagrid.

Interesting choice for Thorin. I'd choose Brian Blessed.

I choose Kenneth Branagh for Bilbo but I'm sure they'll select a younger actor...even though Ian Holm looks about forty/fifty in the "Fellowship" prologue. Branagh will also be busy directing "Thor."

If Christopher Lee were willing, I'd ask him to record Smaug's lines.

My magic 8-Ball says Gerard Butler for Bard.

Ian McNiece would be an ideal Master of Lake Town.

Back in the day, a lot of Ringers wanted Jason Isaacs as Thranduil but that was just because he looked the part in his Lucius Malfoy wig, just like Robbie Coltrane looks the part of Beorn in his Hagrid costume.
