In fairness not long ago Baseball card collectors, Railroad model builders, and pretty much any hobby that would bring a person joy got the same treatment. Comics, Kite flying, all of it. I figure people are miserable anc can't understand why the rest of us can't be miserable. Think House without the charm.
Dr. Phil is a poser, he has no degree in anything that would remotely give him the title "Dr." and knows little about the human condition, in fact most of his ramblings rub against the researches into any topic he speaks on. It's just his rambling opinion without any real back up but because he is called "Dr." people think he is some sort of authority. Tyra is worse, she trys to play the part of the "normal every person" when she has been so sheltered in life she wouldn't know the role of every person if it smacked her in the face. I trust no one that doesn't do thier own grocery shopping. All any of these jerks do is stur the pot and make a show for ratings, at least Jerry springer was straight up about it, the others are sneaky. Although I understand, appreciate and agree with the sentiment, I usually consider factless posts that lie and boarder on libel, less than "great". Dr. Phil McGraw graduated in 1975 from Midwestern State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. He earned a master's degree in experimental psychology in 1976, and a Ph.D in clinical psychology in 1979 at the University of North Texas. So he is, in fact, a doctor. Maybe other peoples "opinion" of what a doctor is or should be is different, but he is, in fact, a REAL doctor regardless of what youd like to THINK. Ive never seen his show, I dont have to. Its a TALK SHOW! Ive seen advertisements and he comes off like a know-it-all jackass to me. But lets face it guys, there are MANY "collectors" out there (probably a few on this site) who have serious issues and probably could use some form of help or treatment. Amzing, you memorised that from Wikipedia or copied and pasted?
Libel, Phil would have to sue CNN first. Also even the wiki said he failed in the feild and was a Legal consultant at the time Oprah hired him. as ofr collectors who go to far, of course there are, but the topic was about lumping all collectors into one catagory. |

I'm sure Dr. Phil has no problem with people who collect his books. He's a giant douche.

There was a printed article on something along these lines, and the article also referenced collecting as "Peter Pan Syndrome".
Apparently we all have a problem growing up - Either we grew up too fast, had a crappy childhood or *enter issue here*. Can't I just enjoy G.I.Joe and not be associated with some form of mental issue? Why do coin collectors and stamp collectors get love? Because their items increase value over time? Someone needs to run up on Tyra in a PDD Costume and show her who wears the daddy pants. |

I wasnt taking a shot at you, I was simply pointing out that the post you replied to was full of bullshit lies. The poster wrote about how he was in no way, shape or form a real doctor, but with a 2 second google search I found out where and when he went to school, and what degrees he graduated with making him, in fact, a real doctor.

"Peter Pan Syndrome" is more like Micheal Jackson's life & lifestyle. Not a man collecting action figures as a hobby.
