People were yelling in disbelief of the last 10 minutes when the film ended when I saw it on Wednesday. The major problem of the film was that the final battle scene in the book was not in the film. Severus Snape was not with Harry Potter underneath watching Albus Dumbledore being confronted by the Death Eaters and Draco Malfoy before Snape kills Albus in the book. If this were so, Snape should have Killed Harry right there and be done.
Big Mistakes = failure for Potter fans. This would be similar to watching the Star Wars Empire Strikes Back and the Battle of Hoth just was not in the film. Order of the Phoenix is a much better film.

SSHHHIIITTT!!!! I didn't know there were spoilers in this thread!!! Curse my prying eyes!!!!
Believe it or not i had not watched a Potter film until about a month and a half a go. I always just thought they were for little kids and big dorks. My wife and I bought the first 5 films on Blu Ray and watched them. We couldn't get enough!!!! We're eager to watch the new one we just have to find a babysitter, which means we have to wait until her mother is willing to watch the kids because we don't trust anyone with them except her. We're both excited to see it, though.

Snape not killing Harry is in the book; he defends him from the Death Eaters and tells them Voldemort wants him (Potter) for himself.
The lack of the climactic battle surprised me, but I assume the purpose of the Death Eaters' presence at Hogwarts in the film was altered and they were there to kill Dumbledore if Draco failed and Snape didn't do it, and once that had been accomplished, they departed. It was an assassination, not a full-scale attack like it was in the book. As for a lack of emotion in the last scene, well, if you've ever had anyone close to you die, there are moments like that where people try to be funny (like Hermione's snogging comment to Harry) and you're still in shock and it doesn't seem real, so that scene played out true to me. |

And the ROTF thing...while it was fun to watch and try to make things out, I was also thankful I was not induced into having a siezure with all the flashing colors. That movie sadly felt like a punchline to a joke I never heard. If that makes sense. I didn't say it was bad, I actually liked it, all the characters have had progression, and the story was very good and was able to be followed. I think what it was, was that they sort of led me to believe that there was something about The Half Blood Prince that was supposed to be important to the story as a whole, because it kept reminding me of the book from the first movie, and it seemed like a mystery that was going to be a big reveal, as with whatever Draco was up to. It felt like there was going to be some big pay off, with the Deatheaters finally able to enter Hogwarts. I also get the reason Snape did nothing to Harry when he found him at the bottom of the stairs, as I think he's still on the right side, but he is doing what he had to so he could get closer to Voldemort. At least, that's what I got from Dumbledore and his sneaky little conversation. I haven't read the later books, so I could be off. Anyway, it's a cool movie to see, and a lot happens, but I was expecting something huge and grand, as the movies seem to keep building up, but maybe that is why the last book will be split into two movies. |

The point is the last battle in the book (Order of Phoenix vs Death Eaters) was NOT in the film. |
