The first episode wasn't great, but lots can change between the pilot and the next episode. It felt like they were rushing through that one. I'm hoping things settle down a bit for the rest of the season. Even the theme song sounded sped up. I'm glad that Magnum isn't such a whiner in this go around as he was in the original. But they do seem to be keeping alive the tradition of having him get knocked out in every single episode. If nothing else, it's nice to have some good scenery to look at for an hour on Monday's. Hawaii 5-0 has been the only other show that I can stand on CBS and surprisingly has gotten better the past couple of years. Last year especially toned down the dumbness and had some good episodes.
It isn't the same house though. The original house was sold last year I believe and is being torn down. Pretty much any house on the coast in Oahu can fill that role though. |

I saw the trailer when I watched Mission Impossible: Rouge Nation. My buddy and I were like WTF?
Hell will freeze over the day Hollywood starts making original stuff on a regular bases. All theses remakes, reboots, & sequels, I’m just so sick of the s#it already.

I wouldn’t mind, in fact I’d welcome the remakes IF they were done well. Dukes of Hazzard, Chips, Starsky and Hutch, A-Team movies and the Magnum PI and Lethal Weapon shows were all pretty bad. It seems all Hollywood can do today is make a mockery of a generation that they lack the character to comprehend.

The A Team movie was better than a lot of the other relaunches. It was at the very least an honest and sincere attempt at the franchise but it still felt flat to me. You’re right the cast was pretty good. As much as I love Liam I think Bruce Willis could have been a better Hannibal.

Agreed. I think Rampage looked the part but while I did like him, he didn’t exactly have T’s level of charm and charisma. T is a hard act to follow. Yeah, good point, it was a pretty good cast as individuals they didn’t really capture that chemistry as a team. They should have casted the Lucas way, casting as a group.

I've been making my way through the original Magnum PI. It was (and still is) a great show.
This remake looks completely unappealing. I tried watching a couple of minutes, but it just didn't grab me at all. If I had rebooted it, I would have made Magnum a native Hawaiian. Since I don't think that's really been done before. None of these detective shows set in Hawaii seem to center around any native Hawaiians. |
