I am a hardcore Friday the 13th fan I have seen every movie at least twice in the theater or at the drive-in. I saw the first 2 when I was 8 years old with my dad at the Monta Vista drive in in Gastonia, NC, and have been hooked ever since. That being said, the remake ROCKED. It is everything the fans from the first 4 movie expect to see in Jason. If you are into an undead, indestructable Kane Hodder (and I'm not knocking Kane, he's awesome!) walking menacingly behind teenagers in the woods and catching them even though they are running full speed, this is not your kind of Friday the 13th. If you want a maniac hell-bent on revenge who will chase you down and kill you when you run who knows the woods like the back of his hand and outsmarts his prey at every turn (like the early films), this is the Jason for you. I really enjoyed the return to the "mad man in the woods" storyline that made Friday the 13th great.

Meh I rented it and it was a good laugh. While my friend and I watched this two things came to mind. First Jason is a ninja. One minute he's standing on the ground and then the next minute he's on the roof. "Woah how'd he get up there so fast?" "Umm... He's a ninja?" The second one is Jason is a pot farmer and thats why he is killing these kids because there are looking for and stealing his crops. Just an observation.
....and knowing is half theYo Joe!

While we are on the subject, what exactly is there to like about F13 movies anyway? I am a HUGE horror nut and will play stupid horor movie jeopardy and take all challengers...but I have never understod the appeal of these movies. For the most part they are boring as hell. Its like an hour of nothing, the occassional boob shot then random ass boring kill. Granted it is cool when he slams the chick int he sleeping bag against the tree, but other than that the series is pure butt. The remake was even worse, they had the opportunity to start fresh and truly make it blood and boobs...but with some entertainment value. What we are left with is a mediocre snorefest with a flying pot farming Jason and minimal boobs or blood.
The worst thing I can say about a movie is not that I hated it, but that I felt asleep in the theater due to lack of interest.
Punk rock, Horror movies,Hasbro, and MY SENSE OF HUMOR ruined my life.
Wanted: Vintage Joes, Punk records and G1 Transformers.

I'll challenge that on a few points.
The original is actually a very sad story about a mother that lost her entire world really, and took revenge on anyone that she in her warped prespective felt was responsible. The boat scene is a classic last minute scare.
Also the whole look behind the legend angle is an awesome thought, I mean so many urban legends must have some basis. Plus I loved Ginny usingpsychology on Jason.
I will agree that 3, 4 and 5 offer little more victims moving along to the next kill, but 6 gave us quiet a bit more in terms of poking fun at the franchise and adding some humor, that wasn't overkill. It even had a pretty sweet care chase.
7 gave us essentially the first inkling of Jason vs someone, and granted it falls a little flat in places namely the end, but overall is one of the better entries.
Now Jason takes Manhatten is just bad, bad story.
Jason goes to Hell is bad continuity, as it drops a completely never before aspect to the character, that I might add is gladly never seen again.
Jason X...pure camp, they knew the property had slide so far outta horror, they they went balls out and made it a parody of itself.
Fvs J runs a little flat, but lets face it the appeal of this is a childhood dream.....'Hey can the Terminator beat Rocky?', 'Would Rambo kill a Predator?', 'What would happen if Freddy fought Jason?'.....the win in that film is two of 80's horror's biggest slashers going head to head.

I'm not a fan of the film, though I am a horror fan and definitely a Friday the 13th fan. It does have the t&a and the graphic and ridiculous kills and the fact that no one could seem to kill Jason, but it added an element that kind of ruined it for me - reason and humanity. Jason wasn't just this wreckless force; he plotted out things, laid traps and trip wires all over the forest to alert him to the presence of stupid teenagers, he built an underground bunker to live in, and his emotional connection all diverted from the character and part of what makes these horror killers interesting and scary. In a way they give us too much Jason.
Now the first 20 minutes of the movie - awesome vintage horror. The rest of the movie, kinda boring. I wish the rest was more like the beginning.
