I liked it very much, and it has what every jason move should have which is alot of naked chicks. If you like the old jason movies you will more than likely enjoy this one. Spend the $10-$20 watch and enjoy it.

Man I don't get the hate for this one. I thought it was better than MBV3D. It has all the classic elements of the earlier films as well as several homages. It's not the best in the series but imho it's far from the worst.

but, there is one glaring difference that made it worse than any of the originals -- it actually took itself seriously and thought it was being scary and creative. the originals knew they were ridiculous low budget nonsense. this one tried to make a good movie, with high production values and a dramatic story, and because of that made a worse movie.

I agree with that as well. It did take itself to serious especially with the whole sister storyline.

and the T&A, and the plot, the acting etc.
I have seen all of the F13s and thought that this one was on the level with Jason X for dumbness. but with less boobs and blood.

Were people really expecting The English Patient of horror films?
I watched the extended version last night, it wasn't bad.
However, I do have to say right before it I watched M. Knight's The Happening so anything had to be better by comparison because that thing was the worst piece of crap.

Part 1 is represented in the first 5 minute prolog...which is VERY brief.
Part 2 is represented by Jason actually killing for most of the movie.
Part 3 is represented by the appearance of the mask.
Part 4 the guy is actually looking for his sister as well.
And if you wanna get technical the sleeping bag death in this remake is a take from what is arguably the most popular kill in the series the sleeping bag kill done in part 7, and Jason X. Granted a differant spin on that, but still cleary a homage.
Remake takes anything it could that was good from past 13ths and crams it into one movie...with Jason running.
Was it bad? No.
Was it great? Again no.
What it was was decent? Yes.
Personnally it tried to give us a fresh start to the franchise, and I guess it did, but it just felt........empty.
Here's the perfect summary I have on this. I went, I saw it, I enjoyed it, but didn't love it, and have had it in hand to buy on DVD three times now and put it back. I'll wait til clearence at Walmart.
This from the guy that eagerly went saw enjoyed, and gladly paid full price on the DVD of Jason X.
I'll get it eventually, it just ain't killing me to not have it yet.
I think the biggest problem with this new Friday is pretty simple......your buying a movie to see Jason kill people, which you do see, and to be honest its sorta hard to make anything in that, that hasn't been covered already.
'What happens in the new Jason movie?' 'Jason kills people.'
Okay were all ready to hear that, but what was it about? That's where the new movie lacks, yes there's a story, its just not that interesting.
Take past movies as the example.
Part 1) Killer kills teens fooling around in woods.
Okay that sets our tone, and provides the benchmark for the series, at the time it was relatively fresh and new....Halloween and Black Christmas having done it previously, but F13 had a new hitch lots of gore.
Part 2) Well we have a new killer now don't we? Granted it follows along the same lines of the first flick but still something new, and new deaths as well.
Part 3) Hey 3-D! Also a new look for Jason, but even makers knew Jason needed a new gimmick so that's why he was in 3D.
Part 4) While starting to wear thin this films gimmick promised an ending to Jason which then seemed fresh.
Part 5) Tried to give us not Jason but perhaps someone who was seriously messed up by Jason. Did it work well? No not really but they tried to give it a new spin.
Part 6) Okay, okay they knew they messed up, but hey now Jason is a super strong undead killing machine, so that was new...and one of the best flicks I might add. Also the camper crash just uped the spectacular.
Part 7) Hey he finally fights someone who has a chance at doing some serious damage, and we get what has to be the best looking Jason 'Rotted' ever.
Part 8) Okay this film is hard to defend, but the makers had 7 films before them all set in the woods, moving Jason wasn't such a bad idea, it just didn't work out to well. I think if Paramount had put any serious effort it might have been better.
JGTH) Again they tried something differant...it didn't really work to well, but hey at least it was the final friday right?
JX) Again they tried a new spin...it didn't really work but hey.
FvsJ) See another new spin and while the story which was at best okay at least gave us a gorefest ending we've craved to see!
Remake) Ehhh not much new here, good but nothing you really haven't seen already.
Now My Bloody Valentine? That is a whole nother story. I'm a huge fan of the original which is a decent little flick, sloppy by todays movie standards but a memorable story with a sweet little twist ending, one of my favorites, so I was gonna be critical of the remake.
Even more so that it was in 3-D and written by Todd Farmer who's name is credited for Jason X, but has often said their were many changes made to that script. Which is generally considered one of the less than best Friday movies, but I liked it.
That aside MBV3D ROCKED!
One of the best horror movies I have seen in a long time and likely the best horror remake since the remake of Dawn of the Dead.
Don't pass on it, it does not dissappoint. Fresh story which pays nice homage to the original and still gives you a twist reveal towards the end which I did not see coming, and the effects and kills were damn sweet.
I really can't give enough praise.
