Does anyone ever heed the advice of a lot of these hacks?
Sometimes their ratings are purely Hollywood politics and oft times it's biased because of whomever owns the publication they happen to work for.
Some of these "critics" are either blind or stupid and seem to forget that movies are escapism entertainment.

The secret of seeking reviews for a movie is to be able to tell the difference between people who genuinely know things about what make a good story and are savvy to the trite cliches and how to avoid them, and the ones who are just "quote whores" who give insincere glowing reviews just so their names will appear in ad campaigns.
I highly recomend hollywoodbitchslap.com for some very honest reviews.

ummm....I don't think I said anything about that. Most critics thing every movie has to make sense at every turn to be any good and thats just not so, however MANY of their critiques are politically based and drive people away from an otherwise decent movie.

I dont listen to the critics because they dont know what my personal tastes are.
If you wanna see a movie then see it. if it sucks.. it sucks
if its awesome then great!
Make up your own mind though, dont be spoon fed an opinion and let that be the end of it. Check it out for yourself, you may be surprised.
Thats how I go into movies I have an interest in seeing.

Thats how I go into movies I have an interest in seeing. | That's nice... if you're single, have disposable income, and time on your hands.
For those of us that live in the real world, spending $9 a ticket plus snacks/drinks (and if you or your girl has kids YOU WILL) can add up quickly. VERY quickly. Some people might want to know if a movie isn't going to openly insult their intelligence before dropping $50+ on it.
