As if three contradictory sequels, a TV show and an animated series didn't do enough damage, Summit Entertainment is now planning to remake Highlander. And they're just announced the director.

Yeah, it's only really a matter of time before every movie ever is remade. Like monkeys with typewriters.

The original HIGHLANDER has a very unique feel; of time, place and the era in which it was made. It's going to be next to impossible to replicate that and I see yet another disaster in the making. They'll probably add QUEEN to the soundtrack totally gratuitously, without really understanding why.

Highlander is great.its one of those movies that cant be replicated.
however "there can be only one" lost all fucking meaning really didnt it? also the explanation of the Immortals in the sequel robbed the franchise of its magic in every sense of the word.aliens my arsehole. but I will say this-I welcome a return to the roots of this franchise and reclaiming its mystical values. |

Interesting. He's a good actor but I don't see him as an action hero. Not that Lambert was either, but you know what I mean.

That Figures: NEWS: Highlander Remake Gets Director 3? I'm sure your just blocking this out because I know we all would like to, but there are 4... -The Quickening Which does make some SLIGHTLY more sense in the Renegade version but it still is pretty crappy. -The Final Dimension -Endgame Which actually is pretty decent film, with the biggest problem being poor Duncan saves no one by films end...which is made even worse in the extended cut that they made for DVD which has his wife still alive at the end for literally no reason other than to provide a happy ending to the film, and completely screws up the last supper scene and Kell's dropping of her necklace on Duncan to let him know Connor's curse is now his. My other big gripe with this film is we get a 2 disc DVD set with an alt cut and everything....overall a pretty damn impressive DVD set but 90% of the trailer had scenes not in the film which annoys the hell out of me when that happens but I've come to expect that now, but NONE of that deleted footage is on the DVD???? WTF? I mean its not likely we'll see another release of this film on DVD it did poorly in box office (not that it was out for long or in a mass release of theaters) so those scenes are essentially lost forever unless someone involved in production puts them up online somewhere. And -The Source....which was just god awful. |
