Maybe this was already mentioned but I watched the GI Joe episode last night and it sounds like the dude talking in the background is that guy from toy hunters a couple years back.

Just found out that Season 2 is out on Netflix today. That is Transformers, Star Trek, Lego and Hello Kitty. I watched all Season 1 even Barbie and truly enjoyed all the episodes. So I can't wait to watch these later today.

My younger daughter loved the show so much, she began watching classic He-man cartoons and even took my Cringer.

Were there ever Star Trek toys? I don't remember these. Also, was Hello Kitty during the 80's? Maybe in Japan I guess. I thought they would have made one about Hot Wheels/Matchbox.

I got my nephews in the great 80s lines over the past 9 years. My error was getting them into the vintage G1 Transformers with the Sunbow cartoon, because that is my preferred rendition. It blow back on me because they wanted toys that looked like they did in the old cartoon. Thank God for cheap Chinese Masterpiece knock offs.

I don’t recall Hello Kitty toys until much later on (but again it wasn’t my thing so I could be way off). My memory of Hello Kitty in the early/mid 80s was more of a merchandising theme, book bags, pencil cases, stickers (sticker were huge in the early 80s), folders/binders etc. though if I’m I’m wrong feel free to bring me up to speed. Caggabe Patch, strawberry shortcake, Care Bears and My Little Pony were the big girl lines then. Off to watch season 2 now to see how wrong I am. Lol. I’m guessing they went with Hello Kitty over Cabbage Patch because of its relevance today?

Absolutely HW/Matchbox is a must episode. I think I read somewhere that if they green light Season 3 it would cover TMNT and MASK.

Yeah, there were various Trek toys from Mego and Ertl over the years. Mego did quite well in the 70's, until 'Star Wars' came along. (It appears that all of toy history is divided into Before and After Star Wars.) Anyway, there were some minor attempts at Trek toys that flopped for one reason or another, until we had the prolonged TNG/DS9 Golden Age in the 90s and the hugely successful Playmates series. (I had a LOT of the Playmates toys)

Just finished the Hello Kitty episode. We are saving Transformers for last.
The Hello Kitty “back massager” was a revelation. They don't seem to be sold currently, which is a shame. I have a friend who loves Hello Kitty, and this would make the ultimate gag gift. Go check out some of the reviews on Amazon after watching the episode. |
