I enjoyed the series very much- especially on company over time. I do yearn for future episodes. There wasn’t too much that I didn’t already know ( the method Kenner used to sculp forms to vacuum seal plastic for their vehicles was an impressive surprise, most impressive!) but it was great to put faces and personalities to the names that I’ve been reading about for decades. The Kenner crew were kind hearted and good salt of the earth people, as you’d expect from a small company in the Midwest. Mattel’s He-Man crew were hysterical, beguiling, and pretty much the “Madmen” of the toy industry, as one might expect from “The Toy Company” of that time! And not only was I impressed by the devotion of Hasbro’s RnD dept but to see how important the brand of GI Joe became to them and how they backed it from the very top of the executives- almost if not on a personal level! I could hang out with Ron Rudat and Mark Taylor for sure. Mark has good taste!
What depressed me was how dependent all of these companies became of these mega block busters and how hard most of them fell when the lines began to fade. All 3 companies had some valid points as to why their golden boys lost their luster. I found that to be the most eye opening, as opposed to all of the assumptions thrown around here. And in the end I was reminded just how sad I was when the toy lines that I had out grown years before were not even in stores any more. Like family, you may not want to see them every day but it was nice to know that they were out there. Like The Dude. C’est la vie. Lastly I want to thank netflix for giving Joe it’s proper place among what I have dubbed the big 3. The brand has always been #1 in my heart. And I like this community more so than any other brand board even though I don’t really know any of you beyond a few pleasant toy trades or emails. It seems that in the modern era that Joe hasn’t been pulling in the revenue that other brands have so it has gotten pushed into the junky toy isle, both metophorically and literally. I’m not looking to start a debate as to why, but I feel that the lack of acceptance of the brand by today’s children and parents has unfortunately diminished it’s past as the heavy hitter that it was. I’m glad that Netflix has put the brand back on the top shelf where it belongs. Slainte Netflix! I’ll toast your longevity and profit margins on Christmas to a few fingers worth of McCallan!

I watched all 4 episodes (even though I don't collect Barbie) as I love documentaries and toys. I greatly enjoyed the series and thought they did an excellent job overall.

I have to admit... I got a little teary eyed when they started talking about how the entire original team was canned and how they got letters from adults and kids saying how much gi joe meant to them. Joe's were their only friends and confidantes.
Hama sounded sad at the end as well... |

Anybody else notice when they were interviewing Derryl Di Priest he had 6 inch vintage figures? The set that had croc master
When they put the 12 inch next to them you could clearly see they were about half the size. Also another scene shows moc figures that clearly show the 3.75 inch size normal size and his 6inch figures in front of him. Anybody ever heard of or seen these 6 inch vintage mold figures?

The show is excellent and I'm looking forward to the next four episodes in 2018. From what I read, they will be about Lego, Hello Kitty, Transformers and Star Trek. If they get a second season, they mentioned TMNT, Superheroes and McDonald's Happy Meals.
